If you had 6 months to live.....

If you had 6 months to live, what would be on your list of things you must do before you die?

My Aunt has cancer and has checked many items off her "bucket list."

She never got to wear a wedding dress in her life, so we took her to a bridal salon where a helpful woman brought out dress after dress. Her daughter photographed her in such a beautiful way. It may sound odd, but it made her happy.

What would you do?

    awww, that's really nice :)

ha..ha...I definitely know some things I would do...which I won't go into on here. One thing I would definitely do is go to Italy :)

I'd travel the world.. See the great pyrimids, the great wall of China, France, Italy, Ireland, the rest of Europe, go on an African Safari, skuba dive with sharks in the great barrier reef.

same here. Probably would travel the world as much as I could, sparing my family and friends the long farewell. Certainly would live life to the fullest....exactly what I don't do right now.

    That's really nice.

I think I would want to do a bunch of things...two come to mind though

-like personally thank a lot of people that have had a positive impact on my life. obviously family and friends, but old teachers, coaches, co-workers and bosses, etc.
-i'd like to go with my wife to Niagara Falls, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone...to see some of our country's most beautiful places that neither of us have been to.

    great question. Happy New Year.

  • I would spend every possible minute with my son... besides that, seeing or doing stuff really doesn't matter much to me.

    Hmmm....

I'd love to travel to outer space. If I could, I'd love to go to the Moon. But that is not likely to be possabile.

Oh, and also travel the world. Finally get my ass to Hawaii, or even Australia, so I could get my ass kicked while trying to learn how to surf!

Say goodbye to my family no matter where they are. Argue with them on what type of tombstone I should have, and where I should be buried. :D Fix up a will. Bake a lot of cookies because I wouldn't need to worry about them going to my hips, eh? Give stuff and throw stuff away. I should leave with nothing for anyone to settle.

That's an interesting question and I'd have to think about it for a while to answer! :)

Perhaps it'd be useful to actually create a "bucket list" once a year? I imagine it would change (and get shorter!) as the years went by.

I would certainly hope to get another couple PJ shows in- probably go to the jazz fest for sure :) (haven't decided on that waiting waiting)
I'd get busy and write more than I am- words to my kids and husband- my sisters too
I'd share my feelings good and bad
I'd sit in the sun a lot- feel that warmth my favorite thing on this earth- get very tan
take walks in the woods and beside the ocean
I'd eat lobster and blueberry pie with ice cream
I would probably cry often but hopefully laugh more
and I would not tell a soul not a soul
  • I'd move to Italy and sit by the sea....

  • I would quit my job and spend every second available with my family, mostly with my kids. I would play My Little Pony with them, Littlest Pet Shop Wii, have a tea party every day, go to movies with them, paint rocks, make play dough, whatever they want to do. And then every night when they go to bed, I'd cry myself to sleep.
I really screwed that up. I really Schruted it.

Not one respondent typed anything about trying to live longer than 6 months, or questioning such a death prediction in the first place.

If some authoritarian told me I'd be dead of disease in six months, I would fire him as my 'doctor.' I would take his death sentence as a challenge, and go to the ends of the earth searching for a cure. Sure, it would be nice to kick back, relax, and have a six month vacation... but I'd be spending every precious second FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE!!!!!

I'd spend as much time as possible with my teen listening to every word he says with even greater wonder and that would heal me so I could go on listening and listening.

But if it were my time, I'd have Push Me Pull Me played at my funeral and have them spread my ashes where land meets high tide.

Yes. They'd be the people who would really feel the pain of an early death.

Spend as much time with my son, write him lots of letters for the future, do films for him with messages. I would do everything I could possibly do to prepare him for what lies ahead.

Mind you I never got to wear a wedding dress either so I might go and try a few on. :D

    Not necessarily.
Depends on a lot of things, including the state you live in, whether family are also on the account, what was used as collaterol, and even how much is owed.
You'd definitely want to get those details taken care of before racking up said debt. ;)

Before my brother-in-law died, he took out loans, credit cards any kind of cash he could get hold of. When he died because all the debt was in his name and they lived in a rented house his wife wasn't left with the debt. All his outstanding debt was handled by Citizens Advice and she was left with no debt after he'd gone. But as whoprincess says it's better to check first!

    depends....

if i was single, i'd stop paying my mortage, cash out my 401k and half one hell of a six month ride doing hookers and blow while cruising the country in a leased ZR1.

but since i have a long time gf, i'd save some cash and make sure she was as taken care of as possible.

i'd still do a hooker and some blow and steal a ZR1
