Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section; I don't know where else I would put it.

Basically, I've been using the stock iPod headphones for too long; what other in-ear headphones are better?

  • Depends on your budget but for something pretty cheap try Sennheiser CX 300 ii. They retail at £40 but I've just picked up a pair for £15 from play.com here in the UK, they are a massive step up from the bundled apple ones you get with your ipod.

If you've got a bigger budget Beyerdynamic DTX80 are supposed to be the best you can get for under £100 (they retail at £80).

    Hope this helps

The Sennheisers seem like a good alternative, thanks!

Just got a pair of Klipsch S4 in-ear headphones for Christmas. They have great sound quality and have gotten great reviews on a number tech websites.

Now I'm kind of wavering between these and the Sennheiser headphones... the latter is cheaper, but the reviews on the former are very strong...

I use the Brookstone noise-reducing inner ear buds and they are fantastic.

I've had a few pairs of Shure's over the past 5 years, and like them, but the cord always seems to split. I recently picked up a pair of Monster In Ears, and love them. The sound is great, deep bass. Highly recommended.

I'm looking for some good headphones to use while I'm running. The reviews I looked at for the Klipsch S4 said they're not great it you're moving around a lot. I want something comfortable. I'll spend up to $120. Any suggestions or experience with the above while working out?

I bought the Klipsch earphones but, because I am an idiot, I left them in my parents' living room and left for an hour, only to come back to find them all chewed up by my dog!

Those Bose headphones are quite out my range, was looking to spend maybe $40 max or a lil bit more if it was worth it.

We got anyone who works with sound to tell us why those treble sounds on high volume hurt your ears? like why the audio just disintegrates?

Depends on a lot of factors:
      The mp3 player
The bitrate of the mp3s (Anything from about 128 and down will have a very tinny/garbled sound at higher volumes)
      The headphones

...and other factors. Try the same headphones through a CD player, and another pair of headphones through the mp3 player. If the latter sounds the same, and the former sounds good, it's either your player or the bitrate of the mp3s. You can always try the player through a nice set of speakers to see if that same volume sounds shrilly/harsh.

The rips are 320kps, i presume its just the crap headphones i got with the phone. I've a a stupidly good sound system and they sound fine on here so i think its just the listening device, wonder why crap phones suck.
  • i would suggest overear or regular headphones. the ipod is one of the greatest every inventions. but apple simotaneously created something that may be the world inventions ever, the earbud. they are crap. you cant hear the music. you have to turn the music WAY up to hear it. forget about walking on the street, cars nearby and trying to hear the music. done waste time with in ear buds. they are worthless.
