Anyone seen him live? I'm not all too familiar with his music, I just know hes pretty chill like Jack Johnson. I'm going to see him on New YEar's Eve and just thought I'd get an idea of what to expect. Then JJ Grey and Mofro on New Years day...woohoo

Yeah, he's really cool live, even more laid back than Jack Johnson but with a bluesier voice. The comparisons between the two will always be there because he used to rent a room off Jack's parents in Oahu when he was surfing and they surfed and played guitar together. His first record was put out on JJ's Brushfire Records too.

There's a good live DVD available (The Abbey Road Sessions) that is worth getting if you like what you see on NYE. Hope you enjoy the gigs!

Hers's a pretty cool video from Bonnaroo ast year:

  • i'm a fan
saw him once and would definitely pay again
i bought the new cd called "pass it around", for tour prepping purposes
almost the whole cd a A OK with me
it's kinda groovy and "hippiesh" which is why i liked it
not jam band at all so dont get mislead by the hippieish tag
i think michael franti will give me the same kinda vibe when i see him in 2010
  • thanks for the input...yea, I've been listening on Pandora the fast two days and like what I'm hearing. I'll let ya know how the show is (outdoors, under the stars, on the water and during a blue moon...plus three barges of fireworks afterwards) should be pretty fun!

Thread may be old- but just wanted to say how greatI think DF is. Interesting on his bio from his website:

Growing up in southern California, Frankenreiter was drawn first to guitar gods like Clapton and Page, then to songwriters like Dylan and Marley. Ska-punk soundtracked his moves in surfing films, but his first high school band was so inspired by Pearl Jam, they named it Peanut Butter and Jam

His song 'Dance Like Nobody's Watching' will be our wedding song next summer too. Not that you need to know that- but now you do anyway. ;)
