I don't think they can.
BROTHER #1 single
Followed by TEN RELEASE #1 album again
Cool boxset.
Fixer #1 single
Followed by Backspacer #1 album

Kickass small tour and the best PEARL JAM show EVER at the spectrum.

So really how can they top 2009?

  • In order to top the release of Backspacer on vinyl they will need to release a live show of some sort on vinyl (i.e. Benaroya Hall). In order to top Ten Re-Issue, they HAVE to release the VS. equivalent. Unfortunately I am still skeptical whether or not that will even happen. Ten was their best selling album and the one that could benefit greatest from a remix. It would be a shame if they stopped the rereleases with Ten but if they did I would not be surprised.

    East Coast Tour

    Backspacer B-sides EP
I think these are the two keys that are necessary for them to even come close to '09 in '10. That B-Sides EP has a lot of us excited ~ but if I was to bet on it now, I don't think I would put my money on that ever being released. I hope I am wrong though...

The other major factor is the shows themselves. The band was on fire this year - both in terms of how much fun they had playing the songs (which led to much tighter songs) and in terms of how much they mixed up the setlists. I hope to see the same effort from the band in 2010 and have no reason to think they will do anything but build on the great string of shows that they played in '09. Lets hope that songs like ATY, Hold On, No Way, Pilate & Deep don't get put back in the vault...

it will definitely be somewhere in Seattle...although 20 is a big #, i would expect the 25th anni would be the best year to celebrate...and it depends on what you consider their anniversary of, the first show? or the release of Ten? the day Ed arrived in Seattle?
  • They can release an exclusive deal with Walmart
