This isn't a story from any specific site, it's just a lot of misc stuff I've gathered, but it's looking like Eric Avery is out of Jane's Addiction, again. Rumors are running rampant online that Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery is leaving the band after their Australian tour next year. Jane's are playing a show on NYE with Strays era bassist Chris Chaney in place of Avery. On xiola.org plenty of people who claim to have "sources" claim Avery is out after Australia. Dave Navarro even mentioned on his online radio show that Jane's Addiction was a revolving door of musicians, at least on one instrument. Perry Farrell also said on Twitter, "Sum up '09. A chance to live out a dream, but this dream ends differently than the one we'd drempt of. In fine print: NO DREAMS REFUNDED."

Jane's Addiction have really done an awful job with their legacy and will be pissing on it even more if Avery leaves like it looks like he will. Navarro and Perry are all about the cash, Avery wants to make new music and all they want to do is constant cash grab tours. I'm glad I got to see the real JA earlier this year, but they are probably the most talented band to constantly fuck up their career and legacy. Why can't they all just go in a god damn room and make music? Many would kill to do it for a living, they owe it to themselves and their fans to man up and make one more album together. Jane's Addiction actually make STP look VERY fan friendly, when they're not. Why can't everybody be like Pearl Jam? hahaha. End of rant.

i thought navarro was in smashing pumpkins now? Either way, i don't know if there's another band out there who shouldn't tour. they've tried doing this so many times since they broke up and it never goes smoothly.

Jane's Addiction is one of the best live acts to date. They're live performance is unreal and it's truly how the band should be experienced.

Unfortunately like you said it seems that cash (and ego's) are a bigger priority at this time. They should just cut the bullshit and get in the studio and do what true musicians should do: make music because they love to do so.

Jane's Addiction finished 20 years ago, eveything they've done since Ritual De Lo Habitual has been weak. They are trying to make albums now because they've realised how stupid they were to let it go back then.
