  • Separate football and personal life. Although it was wrong on every level, he served his time. His teammates are around him a lot more than just Sundays. When he came back he was away from football for two years, and he has put a lot of work in to get back where he is. With all of the turmoil surrounding him he has come back to help the birds in several situations. We fans don't get to see what these players go through throughout the week, and we take for granted the product on tv. Vick has had to work his ass off to become a productive player again.

Nicely put JO. I find everybody wants Vick to pay for the rest of his life. He did his time, its over, and big deal. He was involved in a dog fighting ring... not condoning it... but its not like he killed another human unlike some of the other meatballs in the NFL. He has worked his ass off and he has the right to earn a living.

EXACTLY!!!! there are guys in every sport that beat their wives, cheat on them, etc...guys who have killed PEOPLE, hurt people, stolen things...I don't hear anyone bitching and moaning about them nearly as much...Vick was an idiot--clearly--but he did his time, and in this incredible country you're allowed to go out and make a living after you've done your time...which he's doing. The Eagles organization chose him as the recipient, and I think it's a positive thing. If you don't like it, don't watch the Eagles or buy Eagles gear!!

    Happy Christmas!

who the fuck cares? a bunch of football players voted on a random award that you have never heard of before this week. as ridiculous as him winning this is, i could care less what his teammates think of him.

    GO BIRDS.

The point is not whether a guy should or should not be given a second chance, I think most people will agree that he does deserve a chance to play football since he did his time. The point is that he does not deserve an award for being courageous. There is absolutely nothing courageous about running a dog fighting ring, going to jail. accepting a contract worth millions and having to put up with some boos and protests. Vick should not be getting any awards for staying out of trouble.

As for the Jacksonville Jaguars, now they got it right. He deserves to be honored.

totally agree. then again, this is a vote that the players on the team made. i'd be willing to bet nobody even heard of this award before tuesday. i honestly don't really care about it one way or the other. means nothing to me.

I hear you and agree. I didn't know this award existed before I read about it on ESPN the other day.

To your point on the players, I find it kind of shitty they think what Vick is doing is more "courageous" than Westbrook. The guy has given everything to the Eagles organization, is struggling with concussions and you know he wants to be on the field.

On to what happens on the field tomorrow...

i'd be willing to bet the players thought about this for about 5 seconds before placing their votes.
