good catch. i wouldn't sue just yet, but i definitely hear it. there's another commercial out there blatantly stealing from buffalo tom but i can never remember the product (and i don't mean the old chevy commercials that used an actual bt song.)

I would not be surprised at all if an ad exec said "use Undone by Pearl Jam, but have another band re-record it with enough changes that it has the same feel, but so we don't have to pay for it".

I think this may be more than coincidental.

I noticed that last night! I agree it's probably just a coincidence.

    ANSWER:

I was watching the IFC channel, and oddly enough there was a making-of the Blue Moon commercial!!

They spoke for a moment about how they loved a particular song by a particular band, and using it. So... I think we'd need to know the release date of that band's album to know WHO may have stolen what. :D

The song in the ad is 'Punctual As Usual' by The Parson Redheads, it says the name of the song in the info on the Blue Moon youtube link that was posted. As far as I can tell, the song was released in 2007 on their "King Giraffe" cd and also on their "Field Mouse Carnival" ep. As Undone was on the I Am Mine single in 2002 it's easy to see which is the original.

It's actually a decent song, although the similarity to Undone doesn't stop with the intro riff. Try singing the Undone vocal over the verse of this...

I noticed it too and have been wondering for a week or so if they let Blue Moon use the song. I searched the interweb and found this post. Thanks for proving it's not just in my head....
