why, so they could be getting divorced? :?
after 23 years, i'm gonna think they were commited, gave it a good go....and still decided it was time to end.
my mom left my dad after 36 years of marriage. getting married does not split-proof your relationship. our divorce rates prove that. and i say that as someone happily married 17.5 years.

tis a shame, saw it last night. dunno how old their kids are, hope it doesn't effect them too badly and wish the best to sarandon and robbins.

    you don't? ;)

i just love that expression - 'living in sin'.
    sounds fun.
    ;)

just saw, they have 2 sons, 17 and i think 20. still sucks for them, but not nearly as much as if they were much younger.

splitting from your partner at age 63, just goes to show...you can choose to reinvent your life at any age. i wish them happiness.

I don't plan on ever getting married - love doesn't need bondage... although once in awhile, it couldn't hurt, much.

Seriously though, I lived with my ex-girlfriend for 4 years. We had once planned on getting married, until we really thought about it. If we had, it would have been a huge headache, both getting into the marriage, and getting out of it... we would have felt forced to try to work it out... but to what end? It needed to end. I'm glad I don't live in a society that would condemn me for living with a woman without being married. I do want to find someone to spend the rest of my life with... a life partner... not a wife. I would like to have a ceremony, but I don't want the state getting involved... yeah, but I'll probably eat my words, because of the tax benefits, and because everyone around me wouldn't understand. Damn you, artificial social constructs!

    i hear ya, truly...
i like being married. and i especially like the 'bondage' of it as you call it. ;) i don't want it to be easy to end, ya know? besides, if you spend your life with someone long-term, own property together, etc, etc....it ain't easy in any case. i like the perks of marriage and not having to go and get a bunch of legal documents drawn up to protect my partner, be able to make decisions for each other, etc. thus why homosexuals want marriage rights. i find marriage easy. i also appreciate the fact that a lot of people have no interest. i say, whatever works for ya and makes ya happy...that's it! :D
