i've been using comcast cable for years now & i feel like i am paying way too much for basic cable & high speed internet (somewhere around $110).

does anyone favor dish network or direct tv?
they seem to have some nice deals going on right now & i am wondering if it is worth switching.

thoughts??

thanks in advance.

I told comcast to stick their cable in their buttocks, 6 months ago.....maybe a little longer...

    I dont have cable
    I dont have dish....
    I dont have direct TV.....

What I do have, is an extra $100 in my pocket every month......
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

  • DirecTV all the way. I had Time Warner, U-Verse and all that madness and DirecTV kicks them all to the curb. I have had them since 2002 and had to switch a few times due to me moving and my locations not allowing satellite dishes, but I always came back to DirecTV. Good prices. Excellent customer service. Huge HD selection and I have had no problems with their HD DVRs.
  • I highly recommend stopping all forms of pay TV service and going with internet only. I pay $36.95 for Time Warner's "Basic High Speed Internet" (which is exactly the same as their "Turbo" they used to $crew me for!) Most TV shows are free online.

I no longer have Mainstream Media 'News' inventing reality for me: As a natural consequence, I have become wiser. I see the world much more clearly. It's very refreshing, and it's the last thing I expected to happen. I miss 'The News' as much as I miss commercials! I am free to seek out alternative viewpoints on the internet. Of course, I was just as free back when I had cable... curiously, I had no desire to do so.

I have almost-free phone service via my internet: $20 a year for MagicJack. You can get your $110 bill down to $40 or less if you simplify.

    Good Luck!

I was in the same boat 2 months ago. Switched from Comcast to Dish Network. Chose them because at the time they were $5 a month cheaper than Directv. They also threw in free movie channels for the first 2 months. So I've been taping movies left and right on the DVR. I'll have something to watch for the next 6 months at the rate I'm recording.

When I talked to the salesmen, he was cool and said they charge an extra $25 (maybe it was 50?) service fee. When I told him that sucks, he whispered 'if you don't like it, all you have to do is say so and I can put you through to my manager, and if you tell im you don't like it he will have it waived. we do that all the time.' So i did that and i'm happy with Dish Network.

Overall, while doing my research, is that they are nearly identical. Depends on which one has the lower price at the exact time you're looking. My 2 cents.
    Midwest. Indy/Lafayette.
  • Comcast blows. I wish I never got rid of my Direct TV. I really miss the NFL Sundat Ticket Package.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

    what he said...Directv...

I've been with them since 2000...customer service is great...I've not had any major issues...and the NFL package is gold, pure gold...!!!

In fact, I just upgraded to HD...I called Friday to scheduled a time the new dish and receiver to be installed, they came yesterday (they offered Monday, but I couldn't be home) and within an hour, I was up and running...

They have a pretty nice special going on right now, check out their website....

we have dish network with the america 250 packagae.

lots of garbage channells (qvc type), but alot of good channells. no complaints from me. and comcast can stick it where the sun don't shine. they blow.

we use WOW! (regional) for internet and phone.

    no complaints there.

no matter who you have, it's worth the effort to call up and threaten to cancel. i've been upgraded on service and reduced on cost for both internet and tv.
