A blind Aboriginal man joined Sting for a duet.

BREATHTAKING would be an appropriate term. On Wednesday on French television Australian singer Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu appeared with superstar Sting, performing a duet on one of the Police's greatest hits, Every Breath You Take.
The performance, recorded for French show Taratata, features the blind indigenous songwriter from Elcho Island in Arnhem Land singing some of the song in his native Gumjatj language.



The singers also harmonise and play guitar on the song, performed to a large studio audience in Paris.

The broadcast is just the latest in many landmarks for the Australian performer over the past year, as his ARIA award-winning debut solo album Gurrumul continues its reign in the charts across Europe.

Gurrumul also performed Wiyathul, a song from his album, on the show.


Immediately after the performances his album entered the French iTunes chart at number nine, with his new friend Sting at number 10.

This could possibly belong in other music. But I felt this is more than just music here.
