So i get home last week and there's a message on my comp. saying that windows could not start because of a file missing or corrupt. So i take it to best buy on Wed.and they do a diagnostic test. Called me back last night pretty much if i were to have it fixed it would cost more than what it is worth. My comp. was about 5 years old and to have it fixed would have cost about $300. So i got a new comp. Unfortunately the store in Del. didn't have what i wanted so i got one close to me. Delaware would have been tax free :(

Now ll i have to do is transfer all my shit to the new comp. I'll wait on that though. Have to catch up on the boards in the past week now

    OMFG you got raped.

All that needed was to google what you were missing and you would get so many guides on it... alternatively the worst thing is just reinstall windows.. and looks like you didn't have a problem with that as you bought a new computer.
  • Best Buy fucking blows when it comes to fixing computers.
I happened to be in there one day just looking around and I saw a
price list of computer services that they offer. They wanted $129.99
just to install a hard drive. That was just for labor. You first had to
purchase one of their over priced hard drives.

I am so glad I work on my own computers. I have a Dell that's just about
10 years old and it works better than 3 year old computers I see about.

All PC stores rip you off because they are people who dont know the first thing about them so they completely get away with it. Unless you have $$$$ sure go ahead and buy a dell and all the insurance they offer... but still if i was to get a desktop pc then i would certainly just custom build it.. just so cheaper and well you know what parts are going into your pc and whether they are good quality so they will last long. Who knows what cheap crap they put in Dells and other brands.

People think that a pc is 'broken' if windows isn't working properly. All your physical parts are working fine... Think of windows as just one massive computer program that lets you do all this other things.. if its program you can just wipe your hardrive and re install it which is essentially 'like having a brand new pc'.
  • I only buy Dell computers. I have 6 of them right now.

I never buy the insurance. No need to.

Fucking Geek Squad. Biggest fucking scam. They wanted to charge a buddy of mine $185 to reformat his computer. I looked at the diagnostic read out and it was one piece of spyware. I had it off his computer in 10 minutes.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.

Same thing happened to my computer in the beginning of December, my warranty has long expired and i wasn't gonna put any money into a 7 year laptop. I got a new HP laptop from Santa. :)
These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.
