My daughter is an actor. She is 17 and actually working regionally, small stuff dinner theater, and some short run plays. We are about to select a college and was looking for some real life college experiences from people who have been there.
Before anyone accuses me of being a dumb ass for going to a message board for information, I have been working this for over a year with research and visits. I will leave no stone unturned before I hand my daughter off to some pot smoking, art is everything acting teacher  . She is my daughter after all .
Thanks.

what kind of acting does she want to do? theater, movies, tv?
if she wants to do this for the rest of her life, she might consider skipping college and start trying to get work now and take acting classes
We are primarily looking in the NYC/Westchester area which is local for us. She is definitely a stage actress so it makes sense too. She is working now, but we have not pulled the trigger on serious NYC auditions yet. Still making connections for that, probably over the summer. She has been in a pretty good acting conservatory for the past 4 years. College is a must unless she gets a big break, which is obviously a very, very, very long shot.
the only reason i mention skipping college is that if she's going for theater and in new york, she'll essentially miss 4 years of auditions and experience...but it sounds like she's got a good start already so i'd say to go for the NYC schools like NYU etc...that's about as far as i can help since i'm in LA and it's been over 20 years since i've had to look for colleges
good luck to you and your daughter
