more music for the Eastern part of the world

I was just reading the article from grungereport about the new STP record. Weiland says there will be 11 tracks on the domestic release, plus bonus tracks for EU and Japan. 14 tracks to be recorded in all. Can someone please tell me why the Eastern part of the world gets more music than we do? And why can't the band just put all 14 tracks on the record, instead of 11? That has never made sense to me at all.

I can understand if the band doesn't feel that those 3 extra tracks flow with the rest of the record, but then why release them at all in any part of the world? why not just release them digitally as a seperate entity? Is it to entice the Japanese to buy their cd? Is it harder to get good sales over there?

it's all about money, and we have the luxury to see them play around in our town, and they're not often as the rest of us here, but the technology will help us to get those the rest of missing tracks of the record

CDs in Japan cost much more, so artists often put extra songs on the albums to get people to buy them.

Don't understand why people add extra tracks to European releases, though.
