Congratulations Martin Brodeur most shutouts by a goalie ever. Another day another record for the, arguably, best goalie ever.

  • He did not change the rules the NHL did anyway he will easily have more regulation wins before it is all said and done

I didn't say he changed the rule but it has to be accounted for

He only has like 5 more wins and that argument is a moot point

  • if you use your argument then here is mine Roy never had a season taken away from him like Marty in the lockout year. Anyway with you saying shootout should not count he still has 546 so 5 more and he ties.

  • ah, one of the great debates, Roy vs Brodeur. I'm a Roy guy myself, however I like Brodeur as well. The two did play as contemporaries for many years, but the NHL in the Roy only years in the 80's and early 90's don't compare with the Brodeur only years since Roy retired.

Hockey is very much a team game, with Brodeur playing for one of the best franchises since he joined the league. Between Jacques Lemaire and Larry Robinson as coaches for the devils, Marty had one of the best defensive systems in front of him, helping him rack up the wins/shutouts... Not saying he isn't a great goalie, because he is, but he's had a significant amount of help that Roy didn't enjoy for much of his career.

Finally, Scott Clemmensen seemed to pull down some pretty sweet numbers last year while brodeur was hurt.
-one thing to remember, always have a good time, all the time
