After the monster success of Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' for Christmas number one 2009, I think we need to keep things going for 2010...and what better than a song called 'Alive' to show Simon Cowell that we are not finished denying him what he believes he owns..?!
If he can get four Christmas number one's in a row...why can't we?!
Let's start spreading the word now and make sure as many people as possible are ready for XMAS 2010!!
TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND HELP MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!

Could you give more info about this? I'm totally confused to these NUMBER ONE '09 & '10 events.
Killing In The Name Of was released on RATM's first album back in '92.
Alive was released on Pearl Jam's first album back in '91.
Why is the UK bringing back these old song's & placing them NUMBER ONE .. TODAY, again? :?

It's a campaign against Simon Cowell's X-Factor, which always got to Christmas number one in the UK in recent years - until now!!
Let's help make PJ number one for Xmas 2010!Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

I agree with Demetrios. I don't understand the re-popularizing of a song thats 18 years old. You Brits have some weird ideas over there."FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250

uh this is a bit too early!
Who is gonna remember this by next year heh.0 -

from the RATM site.... from Tom Morello"RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE have just announced that if their single "KILLING IN THE NAME" is number one on the Christmas Week UK pop charts over the single from X-Factor winner they WILL PLAY A HUGE FREE CONCERT IN THE UK TO CELEBRATE THE VICTORY OF THIS HISTORIC PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN!!!! If the unprecedented grassroots movement to topple the X-Factor monopoly is successful in making Rage number one the group will return to UK shores sometime in 2010 for a massive "thankyou" gig. And get this...Rage have vowed to invite 2nd Place finisher, X-Factor empressario Simon Cowell, to MC the show! Said Rage guitarist Tom Morello late friday night: "Attention Freedom Fighters! RAGE VS. X-FACTOR WILL BE DECIDED BY SATURDAY'S SALES. Spread the word! Knock on doors! Host downloading parties! Knock over ladies buying X-Factor! The clock is ticking. And if "Killing in the Name" is number one WE ARE COMING. And it will be the victory party to end all victory parties." TM0

Explain this to me then. I just read the UK article you posted and this still makes no sense to me. Christmas #1? What does that even mean if it's determined before Christmas? Also, has anyone ever heard of some of the past winners of this thing? I expected to see Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys.
Im not trying to be a jerk, just an ignorant American trying to understand what this is all about..."FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250 -

Its not that, its just sticking it to Simon Cowell.. its like rock vs terrible shitty made pop thats just being churned out and digested by the majority of the country.. people dont even know there is music outside of radio stations these days.. just stickin' it to the man!0 -

The earlier we start the more people we can get onboard - then we can start sending out reminders next October/November ready to get people downloading the song!
Don't be doubters - let's make this happen!!Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022

Why not use a more contemporary song like "The Fixer"?"FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam09250

I need to use the most famous/popular so that people are more inclined to get behind it.
Alive is the way to go on that basis.Wembley 2000 • Reading 2006 • Paris 2006 • Wembley 2007 • Shepherds Bush 2009 • Manchester 2009 • O2 Arena 2009 • Hyde Park 2010 • Arras 2010 • Manchester 2012 • Manchester II 2012 • Leeds 2014 • Milton Keynes 2014 • Amsterdam 2018 • Amsterdam II 2018 • London 2018 • London II 2018 • Hyde Park II 2022
