Journey

Today’s the day I walk away
I have nothing left to say
I’ll wander down the road a ways
Until my soles begin to fray

The stars are out and the moon is full
The winds blow and the sun is dull
The leaves fly past the ground below
The icy wind begins to flow

Numbness begins on my finger tips
Next my feet and then my lips
The journey continues into the night
Even after I lose sight

I rest beyond the railroad tracks
To ease the pain in my aching back
Soon it will be time to move beyond
To find a place that I belong

I feel the snowflakes begin to fall
It doesn’t bother me at all
I curl up beneath a tree
Even though I’m cold, I’m free.
