Hypothermia

Hypothermia
He slipped into the icy waters
The freezing temperature took away his breath
Soon he was unable to move
His muscles were paralyzed
Consumed by the vastness of the sea
The frigid water caused his body great pain
Realizing death was eminent he accepted his fate
No pleading to spare his life
Bargaining was out of the question
Instead he thought about what might be next
Is this the end or the beginning?
Asking forgiveness for his shortcomings in life
Would erase or fade the wisdom gained
The end is not the time to repent
The previous days and years were what mattered
His mind questioned had he done enough?
Were his actions honorable and sincere?
Did he give more than he took?
Or was he selfish and uncaring?
Consciously he considered his worth in life
His body slipped downward into the sea
Unconscious and frozen he had become
What happens next would purely be a guess March 29, 2009
