There will be a lot of jazz there among other things
Plus, there WILL be lots of small Jazz and blues acts in the tents.

Pearl Jam is playing a JazzFest, yet they are not a Jazz group.
I think terms like "Jazz" and "Rock and Roll" and whatnot should finally be killed-off, and just reverted to "Music". It has no description anymore, so there's no point in using them as such.
E.g. turn JazzFest into MusicFest, and turn Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame into Music Hall Of Fame.
...it's less sexy, but more accurate.

I agree with you. In the year's ahead, we will see Backstreet Boy's, Nsync, Britney Spears etc.. all inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. When that happens, Jebus will come down from the heavens to stop this madness.

So the next music fest that comes to Chicago will be called Stuffed Pizzafest?
Exactly! And you know it will be good.

So basically Pearl Jam are whores like Kiss. I bet tickets weren't $600 back when it was only local jazz acts. And I understand that bands like PJ or Dave Matthews bring a lot of attention and notoriety. But $600 for a ticket to a jazz festival? I would think an event like this would be something where down-on-their-luck New Orleans residents could go and hear some music and have a good time. It shouldn't be Pearl Jam and Aretha Franklin playing to the bourgeoisie.

they didnt start charging $600 until all the a-holes from LA and NYC starting invading their fest
#2) Tickets are available for $40 a day and you can usually get discount tickets thru the local grocery stores.
#3) Rock and Roll is a blend of Blues, Country & Western, and Jazz.
So basically this thread is now pointless.
