9 out of the 11 songs on the record are done, and there will probably be 3 B-sides!

They cut the 09 tour short to work on the album. I was at the last gig they did in Halifax. It was a pretty good night.

  • Kick ass news!! I'm hoping for a March (early April at the latest) release date. If I had to guess, I'd say it's get pushed to May for some stupid reason. Let's hope I'm wrong though.
  • They start touring on March 19th (well the only two confirmed dates so far are the 19th and 20th) so I'd assume it comes out around then, no way it comes out later than April. My bet is a release on March 23rd or March 30th and they'll do the television performances/interviews in early March to promote the new album. I'm really looking forward to them going on Howard Stern, STP haven't done a real interview together since April 2008 and I know Howard will ask about that clusterfuck show at the PNC so it'll be good to hear some of the dirt. Single should come out sometime in the second half of January if the album is indeed released in March. This is probably my most anticipated album of all time, it's been 8 and a half years since the last album and the full lineup is back, and also STP change their sound with every album so I really have NO CLUE what it will sound like. Hopefully this record finally makes STP get the respect they deserve.

Can't wait to hear whatever it is they have created. Love this band, it's a shame their career has been plagued with drama and mishaps.

She probably liked Scott's last solo album and VR's Libertad. :(

Does anyone have any info on the Core re-release in Feb10? As long as the vinyl gets a re-press I'll be a happy man

Ha! I LOVE it when I read news like these I didn't expect. Knew they were touring, but had no idea they were working on a new album as well. Looking forward to it!

I hope this is good. I love the way they almost completely overhauled their sound with each record, although I was disappointed with Shangri-la-de-da. It still had a couple of good songs though. I just hope they don't go for some kind of throwback sound or try to emulate Core or something.

i think this will be huge news when it comes out, should be publicly received even better than Black Gives Way to Blue was... STP has hardcore fans, but lots of broad appeal, so they could really take off again, in my opinion...

i saw them in 2008 and unfortunately, Scott was pretty wasted. even with his condition, they still put on a great show, and i agree that their sound does evolve with each record, so i'm looking forward to this...

lastly, a Core vinyl reissue???? delicious!!!! i want more details...
