New Orleans is like a second home to me, so I'm loving this announcement. Is it bad that I'm dreaming of following them from New Orleans to Atlanta and then into Florida so I can just follow them all the way home?
I would think this gives hope to there being additional dates in the south this spring... Shit, even if it doesn't mean that, I'm just glad to know they're playing in the US at all again next year. The wait is on for additional dates now...

My Morning Jacket! Hopefully this means they will tour Europe in the summer, maybe with PJ?

Thank you 10C and Pearl Jam!!!!!!! I LOVE going to New Orleans and love going to the Jazz Fest. Tickets are bought and hotel room booked! Pearl Jam, Van Morrison, Widespread Panic, BB King, and Gov't Mule (who i bet Eddie will do a cover of Hunger Strike with). Now that is a weekend of some music. I'm assuming Pearl Jam will play Saturday because if my memory serves me correct that is when the headliner usually plays...now I just wonder what time it will be. I can't fucking wait!!Seeing visions of falling up somehow.

i went the first weekend last year - dave matthews headlined that weekedn and they played sunday. we left sunday morning so i'm not sure what time but i don't think the headliner plays last. i think its usually somebody local. not sure about the 2nd weekend though.
this is such an overall sick time. the food is amazing. the people are amazing. the city, we all know is amazing...then, when the festival lets out, there is TONS of live music to check out around the city all night. i was in a club friday night last year and karl denson came on at 3am. one of the best sax players on the planet.
couldn't be happier that my favorite band is headlining this thing. Those undecided,........ Needn't have faith to be free
And those misguided, There was a plan for them to be
Now you got both sides Claiming killing in Gods name
But God is nowhere,..... To be found, conveniently
What goes on?0 -
I went to the Jazz Fest in '05 just before Katrina hit.It was awesome then, we had a blast! I have been wantin to go back but been waitin on the clean up. I didn't want to see the devastation. But piss on it. They've had plenty of time.I'm goin even if I have to sell my plasma and hitchhike!0

Dude, I don't care where you live, it's worth the road trip! Come for the weekend... hell, come for the whole week. Head to Baton Rouge to see some LSU baseball on the Tuesday beforehand, take in a bayou tour, drink your ass off and watch bands play in the French Quarter, eat beignets at Cafe Du Monde at 4am while you sweat out the hurricanes and hand grenades you've been drinking on Bourbon Street, and then go and spend a few days at Jazz Fest. It'll be the best road trip you ever take (it's been scientifically proven, by a study I conducted over a period of a few years while in college haha)And I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I'll do this one myself.0 -
Got the 2nd weekend any one day tix. Totaly affordable, hell - the four day pass is priced stright on, but i could not afford the hotel, food or beer price tag for all 4 days.
Driving from Houston, TX
Anyone going from Houston or anyone just wanting to meet up and party hit me up.0 -
We could hit the Quarter together after the PJ show. That would be fun._________________

If they follow last year's schedule, Pearl Jam will be wrapping up at 7, so you'll be in the Quarter by the time the sun goes down... if anyone here hasn't been before, a night in the Quarter is a "unique" experience lolAnd I listen for the voice inside my head... nothing. I just bought two BrassPasses- good for the entire festival.

What is the

"To me the hospitality area is an oasis in the middle of Jazz Fest.
It is where we do our broadcast, so there are always musicians and crafts people coming by.
It's an area where people are great music fans and also fans of WWOZ, so you find great folks and have some wonderful conversations.
During Jazz Fest it is my home; I don't know what I would do without it. I spend most of my time there whether I am broadcasting or not."
— WWOZ show host Tom Morgan
