Abba, Genesis, Stooges heading to the Hall

On March 15th the following names will become forever shrined in the halls that are Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Swedish pop group Abba, prog rockers Genesis, reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, English rock outfit The Hollies, and none other than the punk band that had previously been rejected seven times, The Stooges. Sounds like a good time for a reunion.

Among those left out this year include LL Cool J, the Red Hot Chili Peppers (Whoa has it been a bad week!), Kiss, and singer/songwriter Laura Nyro.

To be eligible for the Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album 25 years before the nomination.

The 25th annual induction ceremony will be held on March 15th at the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan, New York.

This is cool though I guess...I just like to see The Stooges being recognized for their greatness.

I could give two shits about Abba and Genesis. I'm actually surprised KISS isn't in there already. Come to think of it, isn't there criteria you have to meet to be inducted? A certain number of years as a group, etc?

Why so much hate for ABBA? I think they're a great band, but don't deserve to be in the ROCK & ROLL HOF. I think RHCP will get their turn soon.

So what if I was 7 when Ten came out? I was negative 16 when Sgt. Pepper's came out and I still love The Beatles as much as anyone who was around in the 60's. Besides, I'd rather be a Johnny Come Lately Pearl Jam fan than be a hardcore Phil Collins fan who defends him on message boards.

People who think Genesis "suck" only know them with Phil Collins as the singer, the stuff with Gabriel is REAL good...........do a little research, or at least listen to Lamb Lies Down on Broadway or Selling England by the Pound before you start making broad statements like a band sucks when you haven't listened to a large portion of their catalog. Not only do they not suck, but they should be in based ONLY on their catalog with Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett alone. Some people might not like the fact the bands like Eno, Roxy Music, RUSH, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and Yes belong in the R&R Hall of Fame, but they do..........

Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Scorpions also belong in the R&R Hall of Fame, will they ever get voted in, maybe not, do you or the people that run the R&R HOF likje any of these bands or hard rock as a whole???? Maybe not, but that doesn't take away from the fact that they belong in the R&R HOF...............Not to even mention Stevie Ray Vaughn and The Faces............If Blondie and Donna Summers are in...come on!!!!!!!

I knew ABBA for their "Dancing Queen" song but didn't know their sold almost 300 million albums world wide. :shock: They're up there with the Beatles, Michael, and Elvis.
