that a full-on 2010 US tour is even going to happen....I know that there are rumors-o-plenty but that could just be hype, I would assume that there will be some festival appearances, but I am NOT holding my breathe for a 15+ show tour....thoughts.

    2006-Full blown tour for Self-Titled :D
2010-Full blown tour for Backspacer :D It's gonna happen!

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

I think it is safe to assume that there will be shows. But that could be anything from 10-12 shows in the north east before Europe to 40 shows - half before Europe in the north east and half after Europe in the south/west.

    Only time will tell....

Honestly... with the band's families and a couple things mentioned by the band... I don't see full fledged tours like the tours of old really happening again. I think it'll be more than last year for sure, but as far as 40-50 dates without any significant time off or doing it over 3-4 legs... just don't see it happening.

This is my thought. I think gauging past albums/past tours to determine a 2010 tour is unreliable. I just dont think they have it in them anymore and their priorities are different these days.

And did u guys notice how Vedder's voice got more and more deterioated as they wrapped up the Aussie/NZ tour? That guy needs to just sit down and shut up for a bit in order to heal his voice.

no way they are going to take six months off when a "new" record has been released

so there will be dates prior to Europe
    the only question is where

Ive said this before, but I think they are likely to headline Coachella in April.

Yeah with how much festivals they play now I find it hard to believe that they won't play coachella this year

If it's Festival's they are only shooting for this year, then I hope they play the Apple Pie festival in Newport, NH & the Nova Scotia Maple Festivals, date to TBA! ;)

    and did you know:

On the evening of November 5, 1993 the rock band Pearl Jam performed before almost 25,000 fans that stood and sat through the night on the lawns of Indio's historic and previously rock-festival free Empire Polo Club. Although band management had chosen this untested and under-developed site as part of the boycott of Ticketmaster and the Southern California auditoriums it controlled, the event established the new venue's suitability for large-scale rock events. Such suitability was not a given: the grounds, essentially one vast irrigated desert lawn, sit in one of America's hottest and driest spots, and the region's lightly populated towns, while having a history as resorts, are between one and five hours' drive from regional population centers (San Diego, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Phoenix).

Six years later, on October 9 and 10, 1999 (a mere three months after the disastrous Woodstock 99 festival) the first actual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (usually abbreviated simply as "Coachella Fest") was held. Due to Woodstock 99's fires and riots, Coachella promoters weren't allowed to offer on site camping, a ban that continued until the 2002 festival.

PJ was the first headliner. Sort of. I just think the timing is right. Makes sense given the Euro dates and the rumored april may US dates

it wont be festivals only, but given the payday, they will try to fit them in

of course, this is all just masturbatory speculation :D

Well, I'm not about to have a conversation with anyone from the band. It's obvious that we're on his side with our "you need to take care of yourself" bullshit.

Yeah, I know...privacy issues. Just the context of the discussion that was being had, all friendly and suprisingly candid, I was caught off guard by the sudden defensiveness, thats all.

well, that and I was thinking more on the lines of how there is a very subtle "I probably know much better than you since I've been to gazillion different places in the world" attitude. Not sure if anyone else noticed that because it is hidden pretty securely. But every once in a while, it surfaces when you expect the least. :)

Thanks Solat. I thought about it for awhile afterwards, but your comment make me feel better. I AM NOT A SHEEP! Sometimes the subtleness that you speak of is anything but subtle if you ask me!
