    he'll come back.

just hope he's not pursuing another career in drugs.

hope he does whatever is best for him.

I'm really upset about this! Never got the chance to see RHCP, and would have absolutely loved to! Hoping he rejoins sometime, but if not, I'm sure whatever he does musically will be great-- he is one talented guitarist!

  • It was about time he did this, Empyrean was superior to anything the Chilli's had done in years and John is infinitely more talented than Keidis. It must have burned AK up so much that John had more talent in his finger nail than he had in his entire career.

Stadium Arcadium was utter garbage and I can imagine Frusciante wasn't entirely pleased with the bloated filler that album was, great news hopefully John will deliver another beautiful solo record, Empyrean still remains one of my favourites of this year and I only really discovered him recently but have grabbed Inside of Emptiness & Will To Death on vinyl this year alongside Spheres and look forward to acquiring more og his back cat on the black circle.

    Great News!

He was the best part of that band.

    My thoughts too.

Frusciante's solo albums are fucking garbage imo(just too boring or too far out there), but if he takes his pop sensibilities and finds a solid backing band(say Flea and a mega drummer) it could be really amazing.

He shoulda been pleased. He had final say on the album and he worked for months on it after the others had laid down their tracks.

Hopefully this'll shake them out of the mediocrity of Stadium Arcadium.

considering frusciante was the best thing the chili peppers had going for them, i'm not sure how him leaving the band could be a good thing.

It's a shame for the Chilis as John is by far the best thing about them. I've always loved RHCP but John managed to release 6 solo albums in 6 months a few years back and every single one of them was better than the Chilis' recent releases

    :o

Damn, if this is true than he is one hard working mother fucker, regardless of whether or not you like his solo tunes.

EDIT: I just confirmed that. That is impressive, and after reading the paragraph about his style and influence on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Frusciante, I have a much larger amount of respect for him

It's all there. What's more is that the 6 are VERY good albums, and most have a different from each other.

Between February 2004 and February 2005 he released 10 albums which is an insane amount of material! The "6 releases in 6 months project" consisted of:

The Will To Death, Automatic Writing (as Ataxia), DC EP, Inside of Emptiness, A Sphere in The Heart of Silence, and Curtains and they are all well worth a listen.

At the same time he also released the Brown Bunny soundtrack and 2 different versions of 'Shadows Collide With People' which you could download for free from his website. One version was all of the demos for the album and the other was an acoustic version of it. It's definitely worth getting the acoustic one, the songs sound amazing when they are stripped back and it's one of my favourite JF albums.

    http://www.invisible-movement.net/download/audio/scwp-acoustic

    From his website:
I’m releasing this acoustic version of the album because there was so much production on the record -- there's so much layering of different types of sound and things -- that I just thought it would be nice for some of the fans who prefer a more raw, stripped down sound. They will just hear the songs in their raw form.

Also, on the last album I put out, we did acoustic shows and those went over really well. But I'm not doing those this time because I'm spending my time recording. So I figured I'd do a little performance in my living room and put it on the internet so people could hear me doing those songs the way I would if I were doing an acoustic show - JF.

Mothers Milk is a solid album, no doubt about it. It has some great, classic RHCP material. I haven't listened to much before that, but I would never turn away from it immediately. Those are the days when J. Irons was a pepper.

You apparently have even listened to By the Way or given Stadium Arcadium a fair chance.

By The Way could quite possibly be the worst album I have ever heard by a rock band. That one song, with the cheesy spanish sounds...... what a sad joke.

Stadium Arcadium on the other hand is a fucking pop rock masterpiece. There isnt a single song on that album that isnt good. ( and its what, THIRTY songs?!?!) Its catchiness done perfectly.

Uplift Mofo is fairly good, but the first two albums are garbage. They're a novelty to listen to, nothing else. Maybe 3 or 4 songs off them in total that could actually be called songs. Not a patch on anything that came later.
And who said Stadium Arcadium didn't have a bad song on it? Ugh, It's 2 discs of dross. It sounds like it was written for a supermarket to play in the background. Awful album.

Great guitarist and stage presence. Saw them in 2006 and his number of solos he did during the show were outstanding. If this is true, I hope they find a better guitarist that Dave Navarro. I didn't like the Chili's the years he was with them.

the album with Navarro is the only Peppers album I sitll own. ;)

Like I said, I haven't listened to them, so my facts aren't too straight. :?

I personally think with the Chili Peppers, the older the better.

their first two are really all over the place and not in a great way imo. stadium arcadium was good but i alwasys thought it could've just been one album and it would've been great. Their stuff through the 90's is pretty solid and would be kinda refreshing if they would come out with something a little more fresh as far as some of the rock songs go.

Why is there so much hate for their stuff released this decade? Seriously you lot are bagging them like they are Creed or Nickleback.

I have LOVED RHCP's longer than I have loved PJ. These two bands will always be my favourites. PJ only just heads the Chilis out for my top spot.

I was pretty gutted when I heard that John was leaving but can totally understand that he wants to go in a different direction. If the band releases a new album I will give it a chance - because even though John is one of the greatest guitarists of all time the rest of the band are pretty stella too!

Much love to the Chilis and John in whatever they do next! And to all you haters out there, chill...

    Peace and love

  • I dont know what you all are smoking. BSSM is an undeniable classic, and Californication is as well, one of the best albums of the 90's. Stadium Arcadium is perfect, and By the Way, was a great album.

i think their work from the 90's on is really good....however i think that stadium shouldn't have been a double album. I wouldn't call it perfect but it's def. worth buying. I think they're all talented but Fruisciante seemed to be the stand out artist in that group...don't take that as a negative on anyone in the band tho.
  • I think the band is WAYY better than Keidis' vocals, but thats just me.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

Just listening to Uplift Mofo right now.

Those 4 guys....that producer....Those guitar solos......The drums on this album are fantastic too....

    Perfect.
  • The man is a god... those who think the band were better off when Navarro was filling in, that's just weird :?

Agreed. these are all spectacular albums. Fruciante is one of the most creative guitarists I've heard, ranging from complex to quite simple..
