Ahhh i didn't realise they did this so i bought it tonight and its fucking ace. I saw them both nights in London in 08 on this tour and i got bootleg copies so it wasn't that great but this cd is fucking amazing. Every song is just ace and the quality is just sooo good!

It is missing 2112 though :(

I know there are a few rush fans on here so wonder if you got it too.

I got on the first day it came out and then later the DVD. I can't think of anything I don't have from RUSH and 2112 is on the DVD the 3rd disc. They now have 8 Live albums and 7 Live DVD's they are on a roll and I'm so glad they are NOT in The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame it's sure to Jinx them.

I saw them 4 times on that tour 2 in Florida and 2 in the DC Metro area. All just awesome which is not unusual when it comes to RUSH.

    Peace

PS there is something I don't have.....The album where they had remakes of some other bands FEEDBACK. I have to get that maybe for Christmas. :D

There is a DVD edition!?? How can there be 2112 on it as they didn't play it on that tour.. or was it only in the US they did it? Yeah i dont know why i went to both nights as its exactly the same thing every night but meh i took my other buddy with me.

I bought R30 as i saw it in store for £2 which is about $3. I went to the counter and said to the person, are SURE this is £2 he said "yeah, everything finds it market value eventually" so i just bagged another copy.. should have got loads more for gifts for people.

Any other live albums you recomended? This is such a nice show and recording i think i'd love to hear more other stuff from them?

I think I could put a serious down payment on a house with the amount of money I've spent following RUSH since 1979. Anyway, yes there's a DVD edition recorded in Atlanta (3rd disc)(Holland disc 1+2)fall last year. Yes 2112 was played in Atlanta accordance with The Temples Of Syrinx, it must have been a stateside thing.

As you may know RUSH doesn't change their sets too often while on tour, they do when they come back to a city or towards the end or beginning of a tour. Just a few songs though. BTW I'm listening to it as I type (Red Brachetta) and the sound is so clean and precise. :D

As for live albums a MUST is Exit Stage Left cd, DVD I wore this one out I had to my the new remastered one.

my username Grace Under Pressure Tour cd, DVD is a favorite my first time seeing them live "One never forgets their first"

Also those two above could be had along with A Show Of Hands in a DVD box set called RUSH Replay X 3 ASOH is not one my favorite live albums but i wll still watch. A cd of GUP is also included in the boxset

Rush In Riocd, DVD not bad at all for the spectacle of outdoor show in front of 50,000

I don't know how far back you go but All The World's A Stage cd only is great their first live album. I hope this will help. You must be what 5-6 hours of us here on the east coast right?

Thanks for the tip. I'm a 25+ year fan of Rush and am convinced they're the reason I survived adolescence. I'll put this on my Christmas list for Santa. :D
It's nice to be nice to the nice.

I love all the classic Rush, but do they have any great albums from like the 90's to now? Probably sounds like a stupid question to mega Rush fans but I haven't really heard much of it.

Not many but one that does stand out for me was Vapor Trails. Love that album from top to bottom and that tour was special with *Tom Sawyer* starting the the show, a first. You had to get there early for sure to hear that song and my fav from the album *Earthshine*. :D

After being away from touring for 5 years they came back with a BANG with VT. They covered just about every album and the 4 shows I saw I was shocked how the fans sold out all the venues I saw them in. Peeps bought up everything and my at the time 6 year old daughter loved the show and atmosphere.

    Rush_Vapor_Trails.jpg

    THE VAPOR TRAILS TOUR

"Tom Sawyer" (with Three Stooges intro)
    "Distant Early Warning"
    "New World Man"
    "Roll the Bones"
    "Earthshine" (from Vapor Trails)
    "YYZ"
    "The Pass"
    "Bravado"
    "The Big Money"
"Between Sun and Moon" or "The Trees"
    "Vital Signs" or "Freewill"
"Closer to the Heart" (Only in Mexico City & Brazil)
    "Natural Science"

    Intermission

    Set two
    (Dragon Intro)
"One Little Victory" (from Vapor Trails)
    "Driven"
"Ceiling Unlimited" or "Ghost Rider" (from Vapor Trails)
    "Secret Touch" (from Vapor Trails)
    "Dreamline"
    "Red Sector A"
    "Leave That Thing Alone"
    "O Baterista" (drum solo)
    "Resist" (acoustic)
    "2112" ("Overture"/"The Temples of Syrinx")
    "Limelight"
    "La Villa Strangiato"
    "The Spirit of Radio"

    Encore

"By-Tor and the Snow Dog" (abbreviated)
    "Cygnus X-1 (prologue)"
    "Working Man"

It was a classic return for the band as they covered everything with an intermission so the fans could buy more stuff including more beer not me of course and the restroom for us older folks. . :D The only thing missing was *The Camera Eye* from *Moving Pictures* my favorite song from that album. Oh I wish I could play it on drums. *Rush In Rio* is the DVD basically from The *VAPOR TRAILS* tour and of course *EARTSHINE* is a standout live.

Also I've been posting the Earthshine lyrics countless times on this board, just a great little rocker :D

    Peace

The guy who co-wrote *Tom Sawyer* must by now made a ton of money. What i mean is that sonh has been play @ every single show since the album *Moving Pictures* was released and on ALL the live albums and DVD's.

This will go on into the future also. This is one of the few times they sucked playing TS on Rockband :D

I wish I could find the video of when for the first time they played Tom Sawyer on network tv the Steve Colbert show.

I'm not sure of the wording of your question but my answer was to Gabers ??? on RUSH's best in the 90's. To me that was to be Vapor Trails. As for their best top 3 hard to say again. I could go with the quality of the album or how often I listen to said albums. My top 2 Rush songs are *The Camera Eye* and *Red Sector A* so I tend to gravitate to MP and GUP. Now 2112 I listen to separately and when I'm in one of my moods repetively, over and over.

    So as far how often;
    Grace Under Pressure
    Moving Pictures
    2112

    Quality;
    2112
    Moving Pictures
    Grace Uunder Pressure

    Ok kool I wasn't sure.

Yup certainly not their best efforts and the Test For Echo tour was the only one I've missed since GUP. To me those albums were not hard rock enough or were just plain soft/weak same thing.

I was listening to *Secret Touch* today, I'll have to look up the all the lyrics. Oh on that Snakes and Arrows DVD, (I never noticed this before) Geddy had a computer prompter with lyrics to the songs for that show. I couldn't tell if it was for ALL the songs either new or old but words were on there for the entire show .

Chalk me up as another huge fan:

Got every cd/dvd (except for stuff like Chronicles)
    Seen em 17 times
    Have a few shirts
    Have a bunch of bootlegs
    Got some vinyl
Have a signed (by the band) Andrew MacNaughtan print and a signed copy of Ged's solo album
    Own the Rush bobbleheads (yup)
Plus I have a ton of little trinkets (keychain, memory stick, etc), framed posters, etc

They are my other PJ :)

They released this cd/dvd on Nov 17th and I have to be honest as a RUSH fan, it's a waste of time. Real fans I think have no need for something already released on cd and dvd LIVE. The songs are all live from the last tour who really needs that kind of best of. How about a release of the Permanent Waves Tour or just live tracks from other tours never released (hint hint...*The Camera Eye*) . The entire concert was recorded and not much from that concert is out there. So that certainly is something I would want to have.

That said here's a gem for me being a live stage geek. This dvd is some I have to have in how I love to know how roadies of any band put all the intruments and equiptment together for these musicians to do what they do. I did a bit of this with my friend Michael Franti and WOW is it ever hard hard work. When do they sleep, anyway I always wanted to know or see how they set up Neil's drum kit and what it COSTS!

$50,000 maybe, what do you think?

    Long Description:
Go behind the scenes to get a backstage look at what it takes to present the legendary band Rush during the 2008 Snakes & Arrows Concert Tour. It may appear to be one of the most exciting and glamorous jobs in the world - but being a roadie with a top-rated world-famous rock and roll band can be a grueling marathon of 18 hour work days, on an easy day. A bad is actually a couple of days, 40 hours spent hauling gear, assembling huge stacks of speakers, lifting them a hundred feet in the air, tuning instruments for demanding musicians and being cut off from every lover, friend and relative you have. This series takes you to the show you never see when you take your seat for a concert by the legendary band Rush. All the backstage secrets are revealed.

This DVD includes 5 parts on two discs including:

    Part 1: Sound
Sure it sounds easy. Turn on some speakers and listen to the show. Well, it's a lot more complicated than that. Everyone in every seat needs to hear the show equally well. That sound can be affected by the shape of the building, the temperature inside and even whether the audience is wearing long or short sleeves. And then there's the show the band hears. Each member of Rush needs to hear different instruments at different levels at different times during the show.

    Part 2: Lights
You don't buy a ticket to hear a rock show; you buy a ticket to see a rock show. Of course that's not as simple as turning on the house lights and sitting back. Lighting sets the mood for each song. That means lights are meticulously placed which isn't that easy when each show is in a different building. Once they are set up perfectly, the must be directed by an artist who plays the lighting board like an instrument.

    Part 3: Instrument Technicians
One of the most demanding and stressful jobs on the road is the instrument technician. Each one is charged with tuning and maintaining the magic wands these musical wizards wield. For the musicians to have a good show, their instruments must be perfect. Each night is an exercise in perfection for the four technicians on the Rush tour, guitar, drums, bass and keyboards.

    Part 4: Lighting and Video
Let's face it, not every seat is in the front row, but everyone pays for a ticket. That means someone has to make sure everyone gets a good look at the band. So each concert is also a television show broadcast on a 50 foot screen.

    Part 5: Road Manager
Most of the road crew are responsible for making sure their area of responsibility is working. But one person has to make sure the whole thing works, every night in every city. The road manager is the conductor of this huge orchestration and you better believe he is on his game all the time.

Ok, that's just crazy. I just turned my iPod on after lunch. First song that comes up on shuffle, out of 9000+ songs?

LOVE RUSH, seen every tour but 2 since Moving Pictures (1981) saw the Signals Tour in 1983 with my freaking 8th grade English teacher, Coach Porter, he picked up my friend and I at my house and drove us in his car, we payed for his ticket of course.

It's winter time here in Texas and it always reminds me of riding my BMX bike around in the cold listening to RUSH and Jimi Hendrix on my walkman as I went to the closest place to play Defender or Asteroids video games! Don't really have a point to any of this, just like talking about RUSH!
