One raisin at a time...

In an oddly random event today, I found myself eating raisins, much as I had done frequently as a child.
I found it slightly disconcerting yet somehow comical that when I was 5, I could eat raisins
with very minimal mess, however, today I seemed to be accumulating a pile of raisin droppings under my desk.
I laughed at myself and went about my business.
And then my playlist shuffled to Present Tense.
I started thinking about the raisins again.
I realized that when I was 5, I most likely ate the raisins one at a time.
Today, I was picking up groups of 3 or 4, which resulted in losing a few here and there.
When we are kids, we always live in the present tense, one thing at a time,
because we have no past regrets to redigest yet.
When we "grow up," that's when it seems that it needlessly gets harder to find an approach and a way to live, wondering if we are getting anything out of this all-encompassing trip.
We tend to develop this insane need and drive for efficiency, more so than we are even aware of.
And though it is a necessity at times, it seeps in to everything we do;
we take shortcuts, make faster technology, take on too many projects, stress ourselves out,
and wind up grabbing 3 or 4 raisins instead of just one.
In order to be a truly all-encompassing trip, you need to take the time and actually encompass everything as its own entity, even just for a split second, and take it for what it's worth.
When we try too hard to do too much, we lose some things.
Many of these things are, unfortunately, the important things.
I said to myself, "Self, don't lose any more raisins. Take one raisin at a time. Enjoy."

suppose i would have been forced to quote bat out of hell...
cheers, thanks!
this whole thread made me laugh and smile a bit.
reading the OP, i am thinking there might've been some ganja mixed in with the raisins. j/k. good read, and yes....that is what makes present tense such a fucking amazing song such lyrics! funny too, i rarely eat raisins, but i just tried this new nut mix, and it has golden raisins and cranberries in the mix, good stuff! my spillage happens with the tiny sunflower seeds, not too many issues with the raisins.
Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
yuck

well then, shall we market a PJ Present Tense trail mix with craisins, raisins, sunflower seeds, etc....sounds like the wolf would LOVE to be the poster child for it... There could be a limited edition LeatherMan trail mix, and so on....
what other foods have recently amused anyone? and was it connected with music in any way? seems like a good topic to keep going. food and music are two essentials, right up there with air.
guess most of us weren't at that "deep" level of thought yesterday, and only focused on the spillage.
leatherman trail mix...
i definitely nominate the wolf as spokesmodel, and he'll have to eat a lot of it, smiling, for the ad campaign.
btw - as to your *essentials* list...do please add WINE.
as to foods that have amused me lately, can't really say....but i have enjoyed some really good food lately. actually, quite a lot - many, many restaurant meals lately - was on staycation - plus the holiday season in general has me going out a lot more the usual, and also have been trying a LOT of new places and i LOVE that!

not the trailmix though. :? we could get the miss wolf to do that !

cheers!
