Its really good. I saw it in an independent crappy theater, so i cant wait to see it again. I feel like there are a ton of things to see in this video, so it will warrant many views.
Pick up my debut novel here on amazon: Jonny Bails Floatin (in paperback) (also available on Kindle for $2.99)
  • Saw it in theatres. Two thumbs up. Only bad part is that if you were not a fan of any of these guys you will immediately respect them.

I liked U2 back in the 80's early 90's, lost it for them during the ZOO tour and that grew into disdain. Now I find myself back on the boat with them.

Jack White is just an awesome artist all around.

Jimmy Page is a guitar god, but most of us here know that going into the movie.

Bottom line, get the DVD - I made my kids (8 & 11) see it with me in the theatres.

I'm really excited about seeing this. I didn't get a chance to see it in the theatres either. I'm not a huge Jack White fan but, from what I have heard and read, it the movies gives you a new perspective of him.

  • Definitely gonna watch it a few more times.

Maybe I was just in an odd mood in the theater, but I couldn't really get on board with the end part where they all play "The Weight" together... Seemed kinda forced, to me - a little cheeseball. I don't know. All in all, though, good movie.

    definitely gonna buy this

  • am i the only one that thought this was kind of lame? the interactions between the 3 of them were so forced... and the more individual parts couldve been done better with 3 separate documentaries... the edge was annoying and white was just doing his usual "too cool" johnny depp impersonation... i expected more... especially out of the couple of times they all played together in the film

sorry... couldnt resist shitting on the good news! 8-)

Is this a joke? I am pretty sure he/she was referring to jack white and not being racist. Just an observation.

a joke or poor reading comprehension... either way theres no hard feelings... we agree that there were "forced" moments in the film that couldve been done better... hopefully everyone who hasnt seen it yet will weigh in with opinions later on... im genuinely curious

Solid film, though it turned out different from what I expected. Not a lot of scenes with three of them jamming/talking. But on the DVD, there are some cool deleted scenes; them discussing guitar strings, and learning each other's songs like Kashmir and Seven Nation Army.

it's a pretty damn good movie. Worth buying just for the little intro with Jack White anyway.

Very underwhelming film. It only scratched the surface and really didn't get us into the minds of the musicians. I was hoping for more discussion on the writing and creative process. There was little to none of that. It was a bit awkward actually.

Was really looking forward to this film:|
“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”

I really enjoyed it. Still not sure why The Edge was included with two great guitarists.

Really liked the version of 'I Fought Pirhanas' in the outtakes.

Well obviously it's a matter of opinion. The Edge uses an ungodly amount of guitar effects for him to appear "great" to those not paying attention. I love Jack White and think everything he touches turns to gold, but as a guitarist he's as basic as it gets.

    A "great guitarist" he ain't.

yeah definitely a matter of opinion. i totally dug this film - i kind of thought the disparate styles of those guys was the entire point. "great" can mean a lot of things to a lot of people - employing lots of effects, using basic styles, or busting out technical and complicated methods. i've been moved by the work of all three of these dudes - to me, that makes 'em all "great".

I really enjoyed this doc. I'm biased because I'm a big fan of all three for different reasons. It would have been nice to have included another guitarist that stood out style wise from the others, someone like John Frusciante. As much as I love Jack White and Jimmy Page, they both play a lot of that blues based sound. I found it interesting that Jack White still calls Meg his big sister. Why still keep the charade? I wonder if the other things he said about his early life was true or not.

it reminded me of when tom morello said a guitar is just 6 strings and a piece of wood. LOVE IT!
