Doesn't this govt have enough fucking things to worry about than worrying about college football? Shows where there priorities are.

I like this. College football is a lot bigger deal in some lives than other issues the government goes round and round on. Also a playoff would bring more money into each school involved, which I know it is a stretch, raises money for education.

**Raises Hand** - Sort of like the same way the government got involved in the Baseball Steroids thing in the middle of 2 wars?

Congressman Joe Barton bragged to the local snoozepaper last week that he gets more calls from his constituents about the BCS than he does healthcare! Probably because he's made it clear that he doesn't give a shit about healthcare. He's an ass. :problem:
I don't live in his district but it's no cause for rejoicing. My congressman is as useless as teats on a boar, as we say in Texas.

things like college footall keep idiot america distracted.

were america to lose interest, all those sports writers and fans that can recall from memory the most insignificant stats on any given player might put those talents to use on something a little more significant.
  • Of course this "legislation" is being prioposed/written by a rep from texas.

  • well it does actually screw smaller, nonBCS schools out of millions of dollars every year. it is unfair business practice designed to keep the money flowing for a small number of schools.

but whatever. i dont mind as long as its not taking up too much time.

While they're at it, could they please do something about the "World Series Of Poker"?

It is NOT a World Series. It is a 'tournament.'

In all honesty, and with my apologies to the OP for the inappropriate attempt at humor, it is appalling that this issue is now one of government interest.

Honest to god, the NCAA knows how to go about determining a 'national champion.' They do it every year in basketball, baseball, and countless other sports. Sure, a playoff system would result in more games, a longer season, and more overhead, but have you seen some of the coach's salaries?? Zoinks!!

Hell, Notre Dame gave the coach they fired a severance between $10 million and $18 million.

More important issues to work on? Undoubtedly.

I was hoping, after the Mitchell report, the investigation into whether Clemens perjured himself, et cetera, the ruling bodies would move on, and use their time for those previously mentioned more important things.
