The song musically and lyrically details the anguish over loss (loss transcending over all types), to me, perfectly.
The organ seems to be crying in despair but the guitar ends screaming in agony over the loss.
The song is 16 years old and I've heard it a billion (trillion?) times and it makes my stomach tie into knots each and every time I hear it.
