So, I've been unemployed for almost six months and cant shop as freely as I used to. Every now and then I get the urge to shop and in the last couple of months have really fell in love with YARD SALE SHOPPING! I go maybe once a month and today I hit the streets!
Found a couple of good deals. I got a ROOMBA ROBOT VACUUM (brand new) for ONE DOLLAR!!
Also got a Cuisinart Coffee Maker/Grinder Combo (almost new) for three bucks. It's the nice one too, that looks Stainless. Picked up some other little odds and ends. I think I spent a total of Twelve Dollars today at 2 different yard sales, got some good stuff and got that shopping bug out of my system! Yay!

Anyone else enjoy Yard Sale Shopping? I know some people probably think it's gross or it's just other peoples trash. God knows everytime I've tried to have my own yard sale I've failed miserably. Thoughts?

I think yard sales or estate sales are fun because I'm a curious person. I like looking at old stuff. My kids went through a phase a few summers ago where they wanted to go to yard sales.

Even though we enjoyed them, after a while we found we really had acquired junk that we didn't need anyway... :?

I LOVE yard sales and estate sales, but it's true about getting there early. I haven't done it for a long time but a few years ago I would go to estate sales and buy stuff to resell on eBay. I really enjoy hunting for bargains. I love good resale shops for the same reason. It's all about the hunt and how good a deal I can get.

I have bought some very nice stuff recently. I got a set of Orrefors (Sweden) crystal candle holders for $2. A Tommy Hilfiger purse for $3. Some home made liquid soap. An amythyst necklace for $5. A brand new dress for the holidays. It is velvet, but very nice. I can't remember what I paid. I also go some cabinets I had been looking for in stores, but couldn't find. Again, I only paid a few bucks. All thsi stuff looks or is brand new.
There are some things you just shouldn't buy second-hand, like shoes, socks, underclothes, beds, couches and chairs.
