Lol... I'm a Canadian living in Houston at the moment, and it's true... They're predicting an inch of snow for sure, possibly 3-5 by the end of tonight, and everyone in my office is anticipating getting the afternoon off... It is absolutely hilarous...

Where I'm from in Canada (Newfoundland) our record is 6 feet of snow in a 24 hour period... and this place is freaking out about 1 inch of snow... it's ridiculous...

However, I'll definitely take a paid afternoon off!
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

And I still went to watch the Sabres play that night too.

LOL i'm a Canadian too living in Northern Ontario. That is absolutely the funniest thing i've heard all day! It snowed about 5 cm here yesterday afternoon and I still had to work all day and drive home in it and i'm alive. But good for you if you get the afternoon off i'm jelous :D

I live in Ft. Worth and I can tell you that people in Texas go nuts when it snows. Nobody knows how to drive in it and they don't have the equipment to clear the streets, so it gets ridiculous.

It snowed here on Wednesday, maybe 2 inches, no big deal. It didn't stick at all because the ground was still warm but there were slick patches. I had to go somewhere that morning and people were driving like MANIACS when the snow was coming down like crazy.

But talking about never snowing in Houston--a couple of years ago my sister and I were going through some boxes at my Mom's. We found a picture of my grandmother, who lived in Galveston. She was standing in her front yard next to a snowman, with snow all on the ground. It was dated 1960. :D

yup---it's snowing here in Waco as well. i doubt that it will stick, but people are freaking out. it's pretty funny to see, actually. my wife & i used to live in places where it snowed a lot, so it's not a huge deal to us. it is nice to see it, though!!! i can't believe that Houston is getting that much snow, though! i lived there most of my life & we never got more than a dusting.

haha, the funny thing is this sounds like Vancouver.
the city shuts down in 3 inches of snow.

driving in it is insane here, partly because of the idiots who don't know how to drive in it and partly because of the amount of hills and mountains we have to drive through i guess...

Well, having lived in places that rarely saw snow (Seattle, California, Texas) and one place that always saw snow (upstate NY) I think the difference lies in the support system for the roads. In upstate NY, there were road crews with snow plows that cleared the streets and highways when it snowed. Everywhere else there was no equipment to do this. It WAS a huge deal when snow or hail appeared. There was slipping. There was sliding. There were ACCIDENTS!!! LOL!

I lived in Wichita Falls as a kid in the '80s and I remember it snowing enough to build snowmen every year.

My Aunt in San Antonio just posted this question on Facebook and it cracked me up: "Are you insulating your pipes or just letting them drip?"

Living in Minnesota, I understand why you laugh!

But, since this is the first 'major' snow of the year, and it's already December, I think the city is just glad to finally put out the trucks and put them to use!
