I often feel like this. The whole looking at my life and thinking "is this it, is this all their is"? All I need is for one book, one movie, one song to turn it around, make it better.

I don't think I totally messed up my life. It's messed up anyways :(

seriously as the old sage I am at 35 I think life is just one big clusterfuck, and you should just enjoy the good and forget about the bad, because no matter what bad stuff is going to happen, no mattter how much you think positive, pray etc, bad stuff will come.

Now what you do, how you react is what makes the real difference. Do you take it, or try to overcome it....I prefer to try the latter

good luck to you, and may better times come

Well at the extra ripe age of almost 54 I can say finding peace in life will get you through it all whatever mess you are in.
No regrets, just take the lessons learned, keep the faith and let love lead your way.

Have done at times in the past, but to be honest life is full of ups and downs, and I always think that if you don't have any downs you will never be able to really appreciate the ups.

    Take care.

maybe the fact that you're sitting around waiting for one of those things to save you is the problem.

    Very true...

"Life is what you make it...", if you are waiting for someone else to turn it around, you will be probably waiting a long time.

Back to your original question, do I ever feel like I messed up my life? Absolutely NO...

Sure, if I could do things over again, I might change a couple of things, but I am content with the choices that I've made. Event with the bad choices, I've taken something from them.

I am happy with my life, and I enjoy everyday... Not saying that I don't have bad days and bad things happen, but I can always find something good out of the day, and to me, that makes it a good day.
    My whole life
    was like a picture
    of a sunny day

exactly. life is what you make of it.

some days are happier than others, it's all about perception and priorities.
life's far too short to be full of regret and remorse.

even the smallest of changes can make you, and keep you....happy.

I am very happy with my life but that is b/c I made myself a life I would be happy with. What you do and how you choose to live is 100% your choice.
  • I have made mistakes in my life, with quite a few being booze related but I dont feel that I have messed up my life. We are only here for a short period of time so we may aswell try and enjoy as much of it as we can. But if given the oportunity to redo some of the mistakes I made I would choose not to as it would not have made me the person I am today. If I died tomorrow then so be it, I have enjoyed the journey which is the main thing.

Huh. This day 16 years ago changed my entire life. It's too long to get into, but I used to think I fucked everything up, at age 13, no less. And, yeah, I lost years that I miss and can't get back. But now I realize I was doing what I had to to survive. I'm sure most have felt they screwed it all at one point or another. But we're still here. So why not live in the present tense?

Is it possible you are suffering from depression?

Something similar had happened to me. And I am happy that i could change. To me, every person can change, it is always a matter of need or beliefs or will. I don't know but this is amazing about being a human being.

Sometimes I do, but the weird thing is that I don't know how I did it. I did well in school, never got in trouble, ate my vegetables, brushed my teeth...

totally agree. EVERYBODY makes mistakes, and everybody does the wrong thing sometimes...but if you didn't do everything in your life, that you have already done...then you wouldn't be the person you are today...and even those that say...well, I don't like the person I am today...that's fine....change...but remember once you have changed..you still wouldn't be the person you are without ALL the experiences you have had up to that point, because every little thing shapes who you are. So take some positive from stuff even when you think you can't. Life is fucking hard sometimes. There is absolutely no getting around it, but do your best to deal with the shit that comes your way....if you are sad or depressed, get professional help..at best...talk to someone....but seriously....just try to look at it as the glass half full, rather than half empty...it's not all bad.
