an average man
the wolf

just once he wished someone thought of him as “wise beyond his years”
or
strong enough for anything, or the man that would never let you down.
instead he was always the “tortured soul”.
no one thinks him wise,
no one thinks of him as strong,
no one seeks his advice,
or even counts on him for anything.
he is no longer even the “tortured soul”,
that fire has long since burned out.
at best ,
he is an average man.
a man left alone,
with thoughts all his own.
thinking of “what might have been”.
he touches the bottle to his lips,
drinks long and hard.
he closes his eyes……
and erases himself from history.

Terrifying.
Sounds like a warning.
