Going to Australia in 2 weeks, what are the must sees?

So my wife and I will be backpacking in Australia for one month and I wanted to ask all the Aussies and people who have travelled to Australia what the must sees are. We will be flying in and out of Sydney with a liveaboard dive trip from Dec. 24 to 28 but other than that we've got nothing booked. The country is so big and we don't want to waste any time since we will likely be spending a lot of time travelling inbetween destinations. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

yikes ... australia is a big country so to do all the must-sees would require a lot of travel time ...

    my favourite spots:

    *the olgas (near alice springs)
    *kakadu (near Darwin)
    *rainforest up near Cairns
    *blue mountains (near sydney)

I'm an American but highly recommend Cape Tribulation. It's where the rain forrest meets the reef and is very beautiful.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.
