PJ Original Songs Never Played Live

edited December 2009 in The Porch
Now that the 2009 tour is over, I count 12 original Pearl Jam original songs that they have never played live. Am I missing any?
1. 2000 Mile Blues - Ten Reissued
2. Evil Little Goat - Ten Reissued
3. Pry To - Vitalogy
4. Aye Davanita - Vitalogy
5. Hitchhiker - Lost Dogs
6. In the Moonlight - Lost Dogs
7. Whale Song - Lost Dogs (Doubt they will ever play it since it is a Jack Irons song)
8. Other Side - Lost Dogs
9. Strangest Tribe - Lost Dogs
10. Happy When I'm Crying - Holiday Single 1997
11. Santa God - Holiday Single 2007
12. Santa Cruz - Holiday Single 2008 (Played by Ed solo, but never by PJ)

I didn't count HeyFoxyMopHandleMama because it can't really be played live.

I also count 7 Pearl Jam songs that they haven't played in over 5 years. Am I missing any PJ originals that haven't been played in over 5 years?
1. Just a Girl - 18 years, going on 19 years (last played 1/11/91)
2. Last Soldier - 18 years (last played on 10/21/91)
3. Angel - 17 years (last played 5/17/92)
4. Let Me Sleep - 15 years (last played 10/1/94)
5. Help Help - 6 years (last played 7/12/03)
6. Get Right - 6 years (last played 7/17/03)
7. Arc - 6 years (last played 9/18/03) - Played by Ed Solo but not by PJ since 2003.

While not stricken from your "not in 5 years" list, it was 2001, not 1991.

Thanks. My mistake. I transcribed it wrong when I wrote it down.

I still can't believe Other Side hasn't been played yet. I was sure that or In The Moonlight would get busted out for Philly, it just seemed like the right time. It's about time they got played

Last Soldier was last played on 4/9/04 at the IMPACT Awards. Still over 5 years though.

Why doubt Whale Song b/c of Irons writing it? Go was completely written by Dave A., and they play that all the time....Thank God!

Those are the two that also surprise me the most. If I had to predict what songs will soon get played, it would be these two plus Santa Cruz, since Ed played it on his tour...I got to see it played in Baltimore at Lyric Opera House.

All the Way is considered a PJ original although I think only Eddie wrote/played it live. Otherside live would be amazing.

Now that Mike has a mic (I only remember him sharing with Jeff in '06 and earlier), "Arc" would be interesting with all the boys being Ed's choir. 8-)

Because Jack also was the singer on it. I would like to hear it on a 20th anniversary festival concert where they bring all PJ's past and present members back to play all songs they've ever written, with the respective musicians who recorded them.

Whale Song is different b/c Jack Irons is on lead vocals.

The next time Jack sits in with the band as their guest, they should play both "Whale Song" and Red Dot "Untitled."

All Vs. tracks are credited to all band members equally (an ASCAP ACE title search can confirm the liner notes), but it is reasonable to think that Dave A. (or any band member) was primarily responsible for one song or another. In the same way, there are obvious John songs and Paul songs in the Lennon/McCartney catalog.

very true but Eddie did slip some of the "lyrics" into a Daughter Tag one time. Check it out: http://www.pearljambootlegs.org/modules ... D&ext.html

It's my understanding that Go is Dave's riff and that's all. After he brought in the riff, I'm sure it was the entire band who structured the song.

And I totally agree with you that the shared writing credit on all of the Vs songs and most of the Vitalogy songs isn't necessarily accurate. Small Town for instance is totally without any doubt composed entirely by Eddie. And while I'm not as positive as I am with Small Town, I'd argue that Eddie is the sole composer of Not For You and Corduroy as well.

But it is also pretty widely known(at least from my recollection anyway) that ed wrote GO about his old truck, so I was simply asking where he/she heard that. But thank you for pointing that out to me as I have never really been that reasonable of a person! ;-)

How about covers? Would love to hear "Saying' No" or "Beast Of Burden"

Well I've heard him sing these lines from Suggestion many times.....

She does nothing to deserve it
He only wants to observe it
    We sit back
    like they taught us
We keep quiet like they taught us
He just wants to prove it
She does nothing to remove it
We don't want anyone to mind us
So we play the roles that they assigned us
She does nothing to conceal it
He touches her 'cause he wants to feel it
We blame her for being there.......

but I don't think the rest of Suggestion's lyrics are similar to that of Sayin' No. Maybe they're the inspiration for Sayin' No...but I wouldn't say they're covering Suggestion with Sayin' No.

man don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure It was Dave's Modern Drummer cover issue that preceded the albums release. But man, it's been a minute so honestly I could be totally wrong....But, usually, being a drummer, I tend to hang on to that sorta info.....sorta like, hey! all the drummer jokes can kiss my chode, "we" wrote THIS!! haha. If memory serves me correctly (or not) again. He also wrote Angel....

This is either going off topic, or making the topic evolve  but I went on Wiki, which lead me to http://www.fivehorizons.com/archive/art ... 0295.shtml RE: Go.

Back on topic: A full-band "Santa Cruz" would be killer.
