Relax, there will be other shows
I might be being too optimistic, but Pearl Jam has never, in their history, only played a single show in a calendar year. I think we can expect at least a few shows in the Northwest as warm-ups, maybe a Gorge stand, and then Roo and a few other festivals maybe. I don't think the band would do all the prep necessary to play a live show, and then only play one show, there will be others....
I hold the pain, release me!

a gorge stand? no way. a two show key arena warm up? only maybe. IMO
*oops...just realized, and the vic. nonetheles...i think it IS very possible to *just* play a festival. hahaha. being an election year though...i see some shows!

Just in the interest of equal time for those of us who couldn't get to Chicago for the Vic/Lollapalooza combo.

I guess I mean from a rehearsing point of view. They likely havent played together since Aug of last year. Even Pearl Jam would need to rehearse some before playing any live gig. Therefore, my hope would be that the mindset is- if we are going to rehearse and get sharp again, why only play one show? This does not make alot of sense. They were still very sharp for the few US shows after the Europe tour last summer....
Im guessing they will either
A. play a few small (vic style) secret shows...
or
B. Announce 5-10 southern dates after bonnaroo is announced...
who says they don't wing it?
seriously, i hear ya...and overall, i agree. i think there will be more shows. i hope there will be more shows. especially in the east, and hopefully before september, all for my own personal/selfish reasons.
i am curious though...truly, they have NEVEr just gone and played *one* show....ever? even on an off-tour year? doesn't make a difference one way or another towards my opinion for shows this year...only b/c you said it in your first post......:)

they won't need "all their equipment" to play bonaroo. just amps and instruments. pa, lights, stage, and soundboards will all already be in place. all they would need would be one truck, maybe two....
ebay isn't evil people are
The South is Much Obliged
You know, you are correct...in 1999, their slowest year ever, they only played two shows at Shoreline Amphitheatre (Bridge shows?) Of course, 98 and 2000 were huge years....
Maybe Im just hoping, but playing the Gorge would make alot of sense. It's close by to Seattle, holds alot of people, and the band really dig this venue- just as long as they do it before July or Aug, when it gets Africa-HOT.
Still have to haul all the staff around ect... so i just have a hunch they will do a lil more... maybe not, who knows! *waits*

-my dad after hearing Not for You for the first time on SNL .
now, of course, if that is indeed the only gig that happens....then i have to think about it lol
Rage against the convention?
She was invited to sing the national anthem at the 2004 Republican convention, but Martina McBride says she hasn't heard anything about performing at this year's event in St. Paul. "I'd take it as it comes," she told us. "I'm not really a political person." I.W. has learned, however, that the highly political Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam and Green Day are considering separate concerts at Target Center while the Republicans occupy Xcel Energy Center across the river. In the interest of equal time, those bands also are contemplating rocking Denver during the Democratic National Convention.

Dont worry. Most of is *IN* Chicago didnt get the Vic/Lolla Combo.
Some of us hoped for a Vic miracle.

All I'm asking for is the chance that we get to hope for a miracle, too.

I second that.
I would definitely go down to tennessee for a fan club show. Or anywhere for that matter. Put it this way, if a fan club show happens, Ill be there.
But as for Bonnaroo....not my cup o' tea.

That is right! I forgot about that show:)
Alot of people seemed to overlook this one, maybe because it was right before the infamous Gorge Show. But, they played Black and Red and yellow, Bee Girl at this one. They were a bit sloppy in parts, like having to abandon Grievance (I was so pissed!) as Eddie seemed to forget the opening line. But, still a great show in a small venue....Eddie later referenced this show in a Rolling stone interview, and said that he got unintentionally (especially) drunk at this show...:)
I'll be at the next one
