"Life" ? ....i was looking at a few of my 45 vinyl singles today and noticed on the label of a couple of them it has " taken from the forthcoming Epic release "Life"

Is this the way they are all labeled or are these more rare?

thanks.

If you're referring to the 'Spin the Black Circle' 45 then they were released prior to the album being released. A that point in time the album was going to be called 'Life'. In between the pressing of that single and the album release they changed the name. From what I believe to know, they are not that rare.

According to PJcollectors.com all of the singles (Spin the Black circle, Not for You, and Immortality) all say "Taken from the upcoming release "Life". Does that mean all of the singles were released prior to Vitalogy's release?

Pretty sure only 'STBC' was released prior to the Album. The others were released in '95 I think? It's well documented there were issues around the time this album was being recorded/released so they probably just pressed the songs anticipated for singles release a little too early? Maybe they just cut a good deal on mass production of vinyl and wanted to save themselves some money!
  • They could rename any album they produce "Life" and I would have agreed 100%

Vital is latin for Life, so in a way it still is titled that, just with different take as on they can. Vitalogy has a better ring to it & to me is still their finest moment. Bugs really should have been a silent track!

    'BUGS' Should be a " STAPLE " in their ~ SETLIST ~ hehe... ;)
  • I hardly doubt that they had designed this whole album concept but somehow released the singles under a different title. My guess is that "Life" was the alternative title in case they couldn't get the rights to use the name "Vitalogy". The studio probably wanted the singles out as soon as possible so they used the fallback instead.

  • well the Vitalogy book is a study of human life so maybe that's the reference.
