What a great feel good story...
Everyone getting along, no politics, environmentally safe. Can you imagine?
Happy Holidays to All!

why that statement is true is interesting, although i'm content with little, and i feel i'm not the exception. people in my life who've had little seem to enjoy life a more than those who have more.

its the nature of capitalism. in order to get ahead you need to step on others.....its a system i want no part of.

    when 1 makes 20,000,000 10,000 people lose.....

There could well be some truth in this. In both India and China the people seem to be generally happier than the people i used to see in London every day. The rickshaw drivers here in China always seem to be smiling or laughing, and yet they earn peanuts, whereas the commuters in London earning £30,000 - £100,000 a year always looked miserable and uptight,

I totally agree with you . . . How amazing you and I can agree!....the meaning of success is totally construed ......and it seems those with money can never get enough and will stoop to new lows to acquire it.......It’s a disgrace what people will do for money....
I would love to be able to live like this...but in reality I probably could not live without the luxuries I take for granted .....electricity, computer, car, store bought clothing, etc.

i've no doubt there's a lot of truth in that. i've been at my job 3-4 months and already feel miserable and uptight. i make more than most people, but the toll the work takes isn't really worth it.

the thing is ... you can lead a simpler life without having to forego certain luxuries ... there is no condition out there that says you have to be amish to enjoy a life that is devoid of stresses ... much of what we do is self-inflicted ...

as for this story - it's good to hear they are being accepted ... a strong memory from this year was the market in san ignacio (belize) ... there were at least 5 or 6 amish vendors there - a total shock despite having been around many in my life before ...

they've got the consumerism. things = status to many in our cultures. i remember reading some quote a long time ago from the head of the department of indian affairs, he said the problem with indians is they don't want things, we need to make them want to wear nice clothes with pockets to put nice things in...
    don't compete; coexist

what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
