Hey Ed...A great ukulele story
In the 10/26/09 issue of the New York magazine there is an article titled "Never mind the Pity" by David Amsden. It tells the story of a 15 yr old boy names Killian Mansfield from Woodstock NY who is quite a wiz with the ukulele. At age 11 he was diagnosed with a rare cancer and has been fighting it for years. He decides he wants to make an album and donate the proceeds to Hope & Heroes, the therapy program at Columbia Presbyterian hospital. Along with a few famous friends like Levon Helm ( The Band) and John Sebastian ( Lovin' Spoonful) the album is made.
This story is quite inspiring and if you want to check it out go to www.nymag.com . You can also read about Killian at www.killianmansfield.org and even order the cd.
