I am loving this version of "Driven to Tears" from LA night 2!! :P :P Anyone else digging this killer version, loving that back beat rhythm figure on guitar, the drums are sick, love Ed's vocal, guitar solo f'n hot. Just loving them on this rhythm man! Have they done this often :?:

yeah, it was great, and he spent a couple minutes prior going into detail about musical influences and how they felt pressured to perform a good version of the song, b/c some of the original band members were in attendance. Great version. I was 12th row dead center at the Gibson for that one.

i had the honor and privilege of seeing this front row

the police were my "pearl jam"* back in the early 80's...i was completely obsessed with them...had all the albums, read all the articles etc although i never got to see them live until 2007 :ugeek:

ed's introduction to the song, saying they were nervous to play the song because some of their heros were in the crowd (mike ness, john doe, stewart copeland) the last name should have given me a clue what was coming next but i figured they were gonna play one of their songs they haven't played in years

my friend, who i have known since those days in the 80's and is also a big police fan, and i both turned to each other with mouths agape in utter shock when they started playing driven to tears :shock: :shock:

front row with my favorite band playing one of my other favorite bands songs...one of the best nights of my life!!

I remember seeing this played by PJ in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in June 2003. That whole show was a cracker, actually. Is it really 6 and a half years ago? Sheeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiit.

LoL -- Just saw this floating down here. My daughter's first show and she got all the Backspacer she wanted.

Me? Yeah the two covers at this show were the Milk of Paradise for me. Driven To Tears was insanse, never thought I'd be lucky enough to hear that, definitely one of my top 3 covers, only something like ... I Believe In Miracles woulda topped it! And it did! I never go into a show hoping to hear these rare covers and was just FLOORED by the performance of each.

Great great show! Nearly the whole Backspacer, so a good boot for that, and three awesome covers! Good Jeremy and RVM too. Wearing this boot OUT! Sound at the Gibson is fantastic.

they need to do another 4-day run at Gibson, that's for damn sure! That place has some INCREDIBLE acoustics!
Next Summer we better see some West Coast love, that's all I'm sayin'
