Finally got around to watching this and, I'll say, it deserved all the accolades. And it was the perfect movie for Mickey Rourke. I felt like I was watching the real life story of a down and out wrestler, without any cheese. And might I add my oh my Marisa Tomei was looking phenomenal. :D Both those two gave the performances of their career, in my opinion.

PS, Bruce's song kills.

Yup, have to agree with you. THE comeback of Mickey. Too bad he was robbed at the Oscars.

    excellent film, definitely.

quite heartbreaking and, yeah, it does feel like something that could've happened for real.

such a good performance from Mickey Rourke, undeniably Oscar-worthy. but so was Sean Penn's portrayal of Harvey Milk. :)

I know I'm in the minority, but The Wrestler has got to be one of the most overrated movies ever made. Didn't like it at all. I was tempted to leave the cinema a few times during it. I can't fault the acting - good performances all around, but the film itself is just bad.

great movie. Mickey did an excellent job. Part of it was filmed in philly at the old ECW arena. I recognized some actual wrestlers in there as well like R-Truth, Jim Powers and Ernest "The Cat" Miller as well as a few local indie wrestlers. Yes I 'm a wrestlin' fan

I never liked Mickey Rourke. I can't really put my finger on it, but he just rubs my fur the wrong way.

What's an indie wrestler? :? Does he wear tight jeans and have bangs that cover one eye?

Same here. I think Angel Heart is a repulsive movie  but he was suited to that role and he's very good in about the last 2 minutes of the film.

That is kind of what bugged me about the movie. I used to follow wrestling pretty big about 10 years ago, even trying to follow the behind the scenes stuff on the web. And based on what I knew the story of "The Wrestler" didn't really seem that original or shocking to me.
