So I'm looking to get a new DigitalCamera for Christmas. I'm looking to upgrade from my point and shoot Sony Cybershot to something a little more involved. I've been liking what I've seen and read so far about the Canon Rebel xSi. But I'm curious what everyone else uses who uses something a little more involved than a point and shoot...

Thanks for the help...

I heard the Cannon Powershot is pretty decent. I'm looking to get a new digital camera as well though. Mine's a few years old (Kodak Easyshare C633).

Anyone good with digital cameras? My old camera was a Kodak EasyShare C633 (about 4 years old or so). It was ok when i first got it. Took ok pics and video. For Christmas my mom got me a new camera, Cannon Powershot. Works great, Takes awesome pics, battery last awhile. Only thing is taking video sucks. I first tried it at the AIC show at the Tower, sounded distorted. Thought i was near a speaker or something. Tried a few more times at different shows, still the sound didn't turn out good. I thought i might be too close to the stage. Went to the BRMC show last night same thing. I actually moved to the back of the TLA near the end and took video same thing. What am i doing wrong? Is cannon powershot bad for taking video at concerts? Am i using the wrong memory card? There was one thing that was kinda weird when i first tried importing the card into my comp. For the video it keeps saying "AVI file is broken. Seeking will not work correctly. Do you want to fix it?" I'm guessing this might be why it's messed up, but who knows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I also have the Canon Powershot SX10. It's a little big, but other than that it is an awesome camera. I also have a Canon PowerShot SD940IS that I keep in my purse for grabbing quick pics of the kids, etc.

I have a Sony Alpha 200 (they've replaced it now) and it takes GREAT shots and is easy as hell to use.

You'll be happy with the XSi.

I went from the point and shoot world to a digital SLR around Christmas when I bought a Rebel XS. I can honestly say it's been the best technology-type purchase I've made in the last handful of years. I was so tired of being disappointed with my point and shoot pictures (Olympus stylus 7.1 MP), and with my rebel, the difference in quality is incredible. I take sooooo many more pictures now than before.

My digital SLR is a Canon Rebel xTi...I've got some great shots out of it and it's been a great camera for my level of photography. I'm not professional, but kind of an intermediate hobbyist.

I even went the next step and invested in an $800 wide angle lens...bliss. :D
