Eyesight to the Blind

Try shutting your eyes for one moment
Be sure, that the ground will go nowhere
Stretch one hand both sideways and forward
For tentacles never can harm you.
Now go:

[you'll never be able
to fool anyone]

It matters not one bit
How long you might shut them and hide;
See, eyeglasses such as your own
Are never prescribed to the blind.

    Social insurance
    Furnishing my room
    Catching the bus
    Grocery shopping:

    Thank heavens for even the
    Tiniest things
    To do;

    Surely by now I would have otherwise
    Let myself
    Cave in.
