Please accept my apologies if I am doing this incorrectly but I have to admit I am a novice at posting my thoughts on the internet. I couldn't find a thread (?) already talking about this book. If there is one, perhaps someone will direct me...
But I would like to say that I have to agree with Ed on the topic of this book, I am about halfway through and am totally engrossed. First I would like to say, I understand that newspapers took the place of TV back in the day but wow, they sure did take liberties, some of these "newspaper" articles read more like a soap opera.
Second, I think this is a very interesting collection of articles in what it says about the nature of people in general, not the leather man himself, but all the people writing about him. The writers are blatantly using him to promote their own moral agenda.
Third, just leave the poor guy alone, seriously. I have thought this was a new development in human society, coming with the advent of television I assumed, to glorify an individual whom we know little or nothing about. But apparently, this has been a favorite pasttime of people long before that. I wonder if this is just how we are and how we're doomed to be.
Either way, I have to get back to the book. It was sent to my library all the way from Massachusetts with the note, "ABSOLUTELY NO RENEWAL" on the front.
