  • This guy on the Download Festival forums thinks Cameron is lying to maintain the surprise:

again i will mention it, but Chris Cornells long term serving band for his solo carrier are NOT touring with him for 2010. is he gonna turn up to shows on his own and play accoustic sets????

    no.

no he’s not, the rumour started for a good reason, when Tom Morello gathered the former members of soundgarden and played a show in Seattle, Chris Cornell then seemed shocked that they had done it and expressed his wish to meet with the guys and discuss their future. since then Mr Cornell has 360′d on his last solo album, suddenly deciding he needs to be attracting his old fans rather than the sell outs he was aiming it at. rumour has it that several members of soundgarden have helped him out on his new version of scream.

i dont know how they will work a Pearl Jam/Soundgarden tour, but my opinion is that 2010 is the year of the GRUNGE!! =o)

i think not only will they both be at download, but i think a world tour is iminent. might even get some Temple Of The Dog.

and as said just above, all reunions are rubbished before the publicity is fully in place.

i’ll eat typing hand if i’m wrong on this!! =o) lol

Part of me really wants this to happen and part of me really doesn't. I never had a chance to see them live and with Chris singing the way he is now I'd love to see them live. On the other hand, the thought of Soundgarden getting back together to help CC salvage his reputation / career makes me cringe. If they got back together to remake Scream, I think I would puke. That album was bad enough the first time so just bury it and move on.
  • Hopefully they get together soon cuz I really need to see Soundgarden live.

if any of this is true, i need to start preparing my bank account!

i've always wanted to see soundgarden live and would probably buy ebayed tickets if i had to! chris cornell solo was amazing... but OMFG i am getting shivers down my spine just thinking of the possibility of them reuniting and touring.

as for a drummer for PJ? Jack Irons would be a good choice... or if matt has the stamina, they can tour together and he can play for both!

The guy I quoted does have some good points. I'm not counting on a 2010 Soundgarden reunion but I think it's definitely in the realm of possibility. If not 2010 then when after Pearl Jam finish the Backspacer tour, a 2011 tour.

Yeah actually dude, what happens to PJ after all this backspacerness?

A break I'm assuming, like after the Avocado tour in 2006/2007 they took a break except for a brief 2008 east coast tour. The break after Backspacer could free up Matt to do a 2011 Soundgarden tour. Soundgarden really will be blowing it though if they do NOTHING next year, far too much momentum.

they need to release a B-Sides album or maybe a DVD of all there music videos and hopefully a live show or something... this has been a wish of mine forever! maybe doing this will at least let them gauge how big a fan base they still have.

Drummers are always the last to know what's REALLY going on anyway (see Dave A).

They have a few shows out... Lost Dogs is a B side album...There are loads of demos and b sides you can find around or even hear them played through live shows..

So yeah, I caught Chris Cornell solo/acoustic last night at a tiny club in LA. Place holds less than 200 people.
Incredible. I feel lucky to have seen some stuff that I'm sure was a once in a lifetime. And to the OP with the sean penn avatar - Mr. Penn was in the house last night for the show.
You can youtube what little video I took at "Chris Cornell at the Hotel Cafe LA 12-3-09".

No by miles...and this is coming from a kid that grew up idolizing SG and placing PJ on the back burner for YEARS.

whether it's true or not i don't care. You know, if they didn't do a huuuuuuge tour and kept it to where cornell's pipes could get some rest in between gigs I really think this would work. I think cornell would be the only wild card as to whether he could hold up. It'd be a pretty interesting show to be on tour. I really don't think there's any act out there that has the cool diversity in rock music like they do...and c'mon Kim needs to be heard playing the guitar live...i really missed out on that one. :(
