Pick of the Aussie Shows

The tour is done and dusted . . . and PJ depression is upon us. Time to reflect ... what show really blew our minds....
Best compiled setlist?
Most amped crowd?
Best venue?
Of course .... every show was unbelieveable but I'm sure we have our favourites. Personally, I only went to Perth and Adelaide. The Adelaide setlist blew my mind ... but I think Melbourne maybe just got the better of it. However, seeing PJ at Adelaide Oval (one of the most celebrated and beautiful grounds in the world), with the Cathedrals and Trees in the background, a balmy spring evening, was life changing.
But overall, for me
Best compiled setlist? Melbourne, closely followed by Adelaide and Brisbane
Most amped crowd? I only went to 2 shows, but my mate said Melbourne was massive.

for the better crowd - brisbane
setlist - i cant split adelaide & brissy, maybe brisbane again but melbourne looks like the best for the tour?
venue is easy - adelaide
Setlist - Melbourne - I think the 2nd Encore really gave this the edge over Adelaide, along with Brother (INCREDIBLE!).
Crowd - Melbourne - Everyone was sooo pumped and the noise at the end of Black was spine-tingling!
Venue - Adelaide - For the same reasons Gizmo mentioned, and the weather was perfect, I mean, heaps good.
Here a my highlights: MELBOURNE- awesome setlist!
Black-tears rolling down my cheeks
Brother-goes without saying!
Porch
BRISBANE-Blood
Off he goes
In my tree
Above all my fellow 10c mates who added to the magic that is PEARL JAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For me:
Best setlist: Melbourne
Most amped crowd: Melbourne - definitely helped by the fact the roof was on
Best venue: has to be Adelaide oval - that place is stunning
I went to all five, and I've gotta tell ya that Melbourne blew the rest away. The setlist was amazing, the crowd were really energised, and there weren't too many knobheads around. Seriously, look at that setlist - it was insane. I was certain I'd never hear Oceans or Brother, and I get them both within 30 minutes of one another! Stone was so amped in Melbourne....he was headbanging, playing on his knees during Red Mosquito, jumping around all over the place. I had a Stone "moment" in YL where we connected. That was awesome as he really is the driving force behind the band.
In terms of an overall package, I've kinda got Perth and Brisbane on par at the moment. Perth had such a cool, chilled crowd, and there was great positive energy getting around. Walking into a PJ gig expecting a more "commercial" setlist due to the new album and one gig per state - and to have them open with Breakerfall, WTF!? - it really set a great mood for the entire tour. It was a highlight to get the new tracks first up in such a great atmosphere.
Brisbane was so full of energy. The band were majorly pumped after the downer in Sydney. Ed was jumping all over the place, hell they were all jumping all over the place. It was obvious that they really wanted to finish off Australia with a big bang. It was great to have Jill and Olivia (isn't she gorgeous?!) walk down past us just before the gig. I just gave Jill a massive smile as if to say (thanks for contributing to Ed's amazingly positive state of mind) and she saw me and smiled back. That was cool. As for the show though, as I said it was just full of positive energy. They played some requests for the diehard guys who were at the front every show, and we got some left-field tracks like Rats, and Insignificance. The End was a major highlight, while rvm had an awesome intensity about it. For all QSAC's efforts at screwing everything up (seriously, these idiots couldn't organise their way out of a wet paper bag) the show was amazing.
Adelaide I would say had the 2nd best setlist of the tour, and the best venue - as previously stated - but the vibe was shit. At least Stone's side was filled with drug-f**ked wankers who thought it was '98 and just wanted to stomp on heads. Hell, I got in a fight during FAITHFUL with some idiot who wouldn't respect the space of those around him. He was soon out, but I have no idea how I managed to keep my spot. After that it wasn't too bad, but there were still a decent group of morons around that caused trouble.
That leaves Sydney. I gotta say Ed gave it all he could, and there were a lot of positive reviews out of it. They did Light Years, that was good enough for me (did anyone else see the one BRIGHT star that came out of the shitty sky?) Naturally though when you see what WAS on the setlist, what we missed out on, it's a real bummer. But as I say, plenty of respect to Ed for kicking his ass til he couldn't sing anymore. Mankind, Crazy Mary, Untitled, MFC, Interstellar, I mean there were a tonne of great songs. Even if I rank this show #5, it's still kicking ass on nearly any other live act.
After following all the relays and fan reviews you seem spot on.
I was only meant to go to Perth, but then paniced and found myself at Sydney!
I wish I had gotten to Melbourne as that set list was almost as if I wrote it myself, woohooo.
I agree the Perth crowd was its usual cool, calm and collective ROCKING selves, Thanks boys for giving us 2 and a half hours of.... well....Pearl Jam.
Adelaide venue sounded a perfect backdrop.
Bring on the Boots.....please
What I hated was all the effin cigarette smokers. They've destroyed my throat. I had to drag myself out of the death bed for Brisbane, and I've been in my room ever since trying to recuperate.
Screw you smokers!!
Oh, and throw ur effin butts in the bin!!
And glad you picked Melbs.
1998: Melbourne 1, 2, 3
2003: Sydney 1, 2, 3, Melbourne 1, 2, 3
2006: Sydney 1, 2, Melbourne 1, 2, 3, Sydney 3, Newcastle, Adelaide 1, 2, Perth
2009: LA 1, 2, Melbourne, Sydney
2014: Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney
Yeah, same here. The Perth setlist probably had more hits and well known songs than the other shows, but I'm so glad I got to hear Grievance!!!
I've read some people saying Sydney was one of their least favourites, whilst others say Sydney was the best.
All speculation IMO - all shows were awesome.
Personally for me Melbourne was my fave.
Yeah 'Grievance' was excellent! that night
Melbourne's certainly alright, but it's very Ten-heavy - some will love that though, I guess. Just not my thing.
