The Real Reason the Hartford Show Was So Good

Look how fast the show started- 5 out of the first 10 songs are under 3 minutes and those 10 songs are over in under 35 minutes. From all the sets I looked at today this is a very fast way to start a show. My opinion is that this hyped people up and made for a flurry of unbelievable songs.

I look into this stuff way too much :).

Though many were still in the 10c line.

    SHOW COUNT: (164) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=108, US=118, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5
    Mexico=1, Colombia=1

  • Though many were still in the 10c line.

exactly--they were trying to make it up to the people that couldn't get in until 8-9 songs into the show.

Oops sorry didn't mean to piss people off about that. Eddie says in the beginning of the show- is everyone in, is everyone good- if he only knew.

  • good thing they went until midnight. What I don't get is that I drove in from Boston and immediately went to the box office and got my 10club tix in Hartford. Then I went to tailgate. Please don't tell me people waited until 7 to get tix. I went at 4ish.

You were there and you don't think it was awesome? In this thread I'm in no way putting it above the other hows and saying it was "legendary" or "epic" or any other stupid words to call a show- I'm jut saying what made the show exciting.

Agreed...I was especially happy because it put everyone that was saying 'Hartford is going to suck, like it always does' in their place.

    Bonnaroo 08

Hartford has to rank right up there with both nights of MSG 2008, and I should know, cause I was at all three of the shows!!! And all three shows were equally awesome!!!

    That ends that..

and Eddie wearing a PJ shirt at Mansfield 2 kills that silly thread "Should I wear my PJ shirt to the concert" ...!

I don't mind the hype, cause the show defintiely was awesome. But I went to 5 shows and agree that it wasn't the best in my opinion. I didn't think the crowd was very good and the band was more on fire at MSG and Mansfield.

On a kinda related note- It's funny how much a show's setlist is only good or bad relative to the rest of that tour. If some of the less popular setlists (Mansfield 1, WPB, etc) were played in 2006 they would be legendary. A lot of people get too caught of in statistics and only seem to care about hearing rare songs if their show is the only one to get it.

I agree. I was at both MSG's, Hartford, and both Mansfields and still think this is one of the best shows i've been to. They just kept on pulling out high energy songs one after the other. I kept on waiting for them to slow down and then they'd just punch you in the face with another high energy song. Not only were there high energy songs but songs they hadn't played that much on tour like Breakerfall, God's Dice, In Hiding, Not For You, Immortality, Smile, Fuckin' Up! For fuck sake that show was amazing!!!!

I also got lucky with my tickets and picked them up at will call around 6pm so i missed that whole fiasco.

    the stats don't lie:

songs only played at Hartford this tour:

    Breakerfall (last played 2006)
    Blood (last played 2007)
    Immortality (last played 2007)
    F**kin Up (last played 2006)

    and:
One of only three performances of Garden "Old-style" this tour..

  • Ed looked positively giddy dancing with that girl. That was an "epic" moment of the tour for sure. The lack of packie stores in the vicinity of the venue was my only complaint.

Haha I can't help it. I honestly expected an okay show because of all the talk on this board. I'm kind of happy I missed the MSG shows because if I went to those I would've definitely skipped this one.

And sorry to the people sick of hearing about this show- I just wanted to mention how fast the show starts.

That's exactly what I did. I alway get the ticket situation out of the way as quickly as possible.

After listening to the boot, the entire day (been home with sick daughter), I must say this show is outstanding. I love it!
The opening of the show is great, I really like the pace.
In Hiding, Sad, Immortality, F**kin up and not for you are simply amazing.

The best show of 2008 - only Bonnaroo comes close. (haven´t heard the Mansfields yet)

yes this show was just amazing from beginning to end and it was so damn humid that day and night, combined with the pre-party before hand, the beers just went down way to easy that day

Hartford was one hell of a show. My initial impression upon leaving the venue was that it was one of the best shows I'd ever seen. The setlist was incredible. Breakerfall, Immortality (with intro!!!), Brain Of J, Smile, Fuckin Up. The Comatose-Leash-Blood combo blew me away. 4 songs with tags (Not For You, Daughter, Blood, Yellow Ledbetter). It may not have been the tightest show they played this tour, but it wasn't sloppy either. Killer boot as well.
