The End was amazing. The emotion Ed showed, it seemed he was almost in tears.

Its funny how we percieve things differently. I dont hear emotions, I hear a man struggeling to sing and it is a bit painful to listen to.

He has sung this song much better than this! Not a good day for Eddie.

I agree Niko...it sounded like he could not hit the high notes. But than when he was talking to the crowd after the song, he sounded OK. Still a beautiful song.
  • I love the fact that even a band like Pearl Jam can still react to having TV cameras in their faces...I love ACL, but they were by no means loose....at all....kinda like watching Mike struggle with the Star Spangled Banner on TV a couple months ago...he was stiff as a board...the moment that camera comes on it is the most unnatural feeling in the world.........it simply shows their humanity, IMO ;):)

It seems it is out of his range. He is always struggling to hit the notes in that song. People flipping channels probably kept flipping.

Go to PBS's website -- http://www.pbs.org. Then just click on the video (it's the second one on the screen -- just hit "2" in that box).

    Yeah, I agree.
Beautiful song, but it was not bringing him to tears.

If you look at a lot of clips from the last couple years it often looks like Ed's eyes are watery at times. But it's mostly from the struggles he's having with the songs.
You can see a perfect example of this from the Rock Honors the Who clips. While he did a fantastic job, you can see the struggle on his face and watery eyes.

I still love Ed's voice, but if people still deny he doesn't struggle at times then they are fooling themselves.

    agree
they know this is big ACL. and it shows. i like that it shows.
