Indifference - LA 09 Night 4 - Ben Harper - On Purpose???

Was listening to the LA Night 4 boot, and was listening to Indifference. When Ben Harper sings the part, "..I will scream my lungs out..." He shrieks/screetches/not sure the word, and it's absolutely hideous, anybody know or think that was on purpose?(to kind of make it sound like his lungs were screaming out) or it was just a bad note(really bad, like kill the song bad)? PS - I like Bean Hahpa too

I did look at a Ytube clip of the song and did notice Matt kinda look over and made an expression/smile when he heard that part.

I've only seen a clip of Vancouver http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcxzIY3G ... r_embedded and it looks like he just gets in the moment and really passionately goes for the note and just strains so much it doesn't come out right. I guess that can happen hey? Although what would I know?

I actually like it. You can see how much the lyric means to him.

Was awesome there. House lights on and a really blissed out crowd.

Didn't sound anything more than loads of passion going into the song.

I thought it was pretty bad when I heard it too, but then I started thinking about how genuine he is onstage. I personally would rather hear the crowd sing that part alone, but hey, can't win them all.
