Ok, so maybe I'm being slow or missing something but...Is there an application that automates when I start programs?

So say I wanted my pc to start an application at 3.am while I'm asleep, is there a program I can get that will set these up?

What program you want doing this?
  • Have you tried Windows' built in task scheduler?
If a man speaks in a forest and there is no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?
  • for instance, Utorrent. I'd like it to start at 1.am when my broadband allowance goes to Off Peak.

I've tried the built in limiter that's on the app to just throttle the speed until then but it doesn't seem to work.
    Does windows Sched work?

Your leaving your pc on anyway so why not just leave Utorrent open during on peak anyhow..
  • if i leave utorrent on during peak time it uses my download allowance ( i get 30 gig a month on peak 100 gig off peak) Australia's pretty strict about these things. . .
  • It's easy, just setup windows task scheduler to open Utorrent @ 2 am

Assuming you are using Windows XP it is in control panel > Scheduled tasks > Add Scheduled task. And follow the task wizard.

Vista and Win7 give you even more control, but same idea.

  • See, I had my doubts. I'd tried it in the past with no luck, last night i realised that I still had my laptop clock set to UK time from before the move, I changed it to Aussie time and Ta frikkin DA! It works.

    Many thanks for the suggestions.

utorrent has it's own scheduler...and you can also set it to open when you start your computer
