OK..theres probably a thread somewhere on this topic in this maze of a place and i couldnt be arsed even beginning to search..anyways....
PJ live at the garden....i,ve tried and tried and tried..to get into this..just isnt happening...theres not alot good i can say about this dvd. everything seems wrong...even all the songs i like....vedders vocals...the guitar work...which seems to me was specially written for this show because it doesnt do anysong justice....i,ve held back for months and months on this...just finished watching it again...still...just doesnt happen for me.
i got better boot recordings (and other dvd's too) which dont do this "garden" dvd any justice at all.
the one saving grace on this show was....in my tree.

rant over! i'll take cover now.
I plan to live forever.so far so good !

  • When i first bough it back in November of 2003, i loved it. I think i really enjoyed it for a good year or two. I don't mind it now either but it's definitely my least favourite i think.

I agree with most of what you're saying; Ed's vocals are definitely not at their best. It stands out more to me now because i think he sounded best in 2006/2007.

It'll always be a 'you had to be there' show because everyone who went says the same thing; there was a special feeling in the air that night. I wasn't there, but i completely understand what they're saying.

i thought i'd be slaughtered for this thread, but i,m not alone....phewww! haha
just to compare..i thought the last dvd.live from italy was excellent..PJ at their very best a true live band even better versions than that they recorded on that dvd..my point being..."garden" just doesnt live up to their live best.
looking back..i'd have thought the band wouldve taken a good long look before finally releasing it...just outta interest..would anyone know..if that was a one off gig at the garden or did PJ play a few nights then..i,m thinking it was a one off gig...or they wouldve cut the best from the gigs they performed at the garden onto disc...what y'all think?

They played two shows back-to-back, 7/8/03 and 7/9/03. The DVD is from 7/8.

  • Although it was referenced in an earlier post I will say it anyway.

You had to be there. It was sublime. The energy was tangible.

I was actually thinking about it today (LBC from that show came on shuffle) and I got goose bumps.

its not my fav one, but, in my opinion, their worst dvd was showbox. oh god that was terrible. garden is 2nd worst. touring band is my fav.

I think being on any Pearl Jam show is an incredible experience, so definitely, for people who were there it was special. But if you just watch the DVD, you can see that it's not a great performance, it's still good but they definitely did better shows than the garden one.

i tend to prefer the compilation DVDs best. Like TB2K was really good, and the newest one is awesome too. the thing i have against L@tG is that it is on 2 DVDs. I cant just throw it on and let it run, cuz i'll have to change discs and I find tha really annoying (yes i am very lazy).
but the times i have watched it it was fun, just not their best.

and i really liked 2005 btw
    peace
